About a half an hour went by with them talking, Nikolai was getting inpatient since Albedo hasn't gotten a second glass of wine yet.
"Would you like another glass?" Nikolai asked, "Oh, no thank you—I don't wanna get drunk like last time." Albedo cringed at the thought of what happened that night at the party.
"Come on, just a few more!" Nikolai waved over Diluc, asking for a bottle of wine with his hand gestures.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt..." Albedo watched as Nikolai poured the crimson red wine into both his and Albedo's glasses.
"There you go, drink up. The drinks are on me." Nikolai smiled as he put the glass to his lips.
Nikolai side eyed the blonde as Albedo chugged down his whole glass in a matter of seconds.
Nikolai's smile turned into a devilish smirk.
Two more drinks later, Albedo was totally wasted and so was Nikolai.
Vera was getting pretty bored waiting upstairs for Albedo to something, anything about the Fatui...she hoped that Nikolai hadn't forgot about it.
"Hey Albedo...could I ask you a question about the—hic!—Fatui?" Nikolai asked, tilting his head for the side like it was too heavy. Diluc glanced over at them with a concerned look but decided to ignore them.
"Yeah, of course. Anything." Albedo nodded, feeling like he was in his own little world.
"How do you...choose a leader?" Nikolai asked as he poured him and Albedo another glass of wine.
"How do we choose a leader?...well usually the leader already has someone in mind for when they eventually either retire or die. Or they can choose on their death bed." Albedo thought it was a strange questions, but Nikolai was drunk. So he excused it.
"Hypothetical...could some not in the Fatui become the leader if their leader dies and leaves it for them?" Nikolai tried to be less awkward about this, but he failed.
Albedo was bewildered at that question. He narrowed his eyes slightly at Nikolai—why was he asking this?
"Well there's no rule saying they can't. So, probably. Why do you ask?" Albedo studied every little emotion that he could find on Nikolai's face and Nikolai was so obviously nervous.
"I don't know. The question just came to my mind." Nikolai smiled, screaming at himself in his mind because of how stupid that answer was.
Xiao was standing outside of Kaeya's motel room.
Is it weird to say I'm excited?
Xiao smiled to himself as he but his hand on his chest, his heart was beating more then it probably should've been.
Xiao knocked on the door, he heard rustling coming from inside and then heard Kaeya unlock the door.
The door creaked open, sounding like it was screaming—like it was giving Kaeya a warning.
Before Kaeya could even see who it was, Xiao pounced on him like a lion would do on its prey.
Kaeya gasped as he felt himself go down, hitting his head on the hard wood floor and his wrists being held above him by Xiao.
