INTERVIEW
———

MAEVE'S HEAD THROBBED as she could feel her body coming back to life as if she was returning from the dead. Parts of her were, parts of her still felt as if she was dying on the inside. As her eyes were fluttering open, she felt the burn at the back of her eye sockets from the light shining from outside. Her body ached and she forced herself to shift around, her muscles were tense and her bones felt stiff. The headache was the result of many things, stress, starvation, dehydration, pushing her body further than it could go, running for over an hour. All sorts of things, none of which matter to her as much as Kai did. She was surprised in herself for falling asleep but the exhaustion had gotten to her. Finally having food in her stomach and having a roof over their heads gave her a sort of comfort, enough to ease her into a somewhat peaceful sleep.

Last night seemed to feel like a dream, but she remembered it clearly. She remembers the man with the crossbow rushing the Greenway siblings into the small infirmary that she was in now and one of the beds was occupied with an unconscious girl. The man ran outside again quickly after gently placing Kai in a empty bed. Shortly after he came back with food and some water as well as another man, who claimed to be a doctor and another woman who informed them she was the leader. Thankfully, the leader didn't ask any questions, just sat back observed and checked on all three of them often.

Crossbow man handed the older siblings a basket full of fruits and vegetables. Which neither of them ate until it was made explicitly clear by the doctor that Kai was going to survive. That part was a blur, he spoke of their condition and how to help them. Maeve felt her head spinning at this time, she was trying her best to focus but she couldn't help the way her body was swaying side to side. People's voices started to fade, the harder she tried to focus on them the more the room started to spin.

Maeve looked around the room, her eyes landing on Kai in the bed. He was safe, that's all that mattered to her. They made it here safe, that felt like a small weight lifted off her shoulders for the moment. Maeve turned her attention back to the guys around her, which was when she made eye contact with crossbow man. His eyes were squinted in question, it seemed to be obvious to him that she was not in a good state. Her vision and mind became cloudy shortly after, making it hard to point anything out or make out the voices around her.

That's when it all went black, the last thing she heard was the deep southern accent of crossbow man saying, "Shit!" Right before she fell backwards too fast to be caught.

Waking up now, she is adding another reason to the list of things that could have caused her headache. Hitting her head when she passed out. She could feel the pain in the back of her head, the throbbing tenderness of it, confirming what she already knew.

Now that she was awake, she tried her best to look with sore eyes. Noticing that the doctor was no longer there, neither was crossbow man. Except now her friends were here. Elliott sat in a chair beside Maeves bed that was beside Kai's bed where Louis and Rory sat in chairs sleeping. Everyone was sleeping, Kai was still passed out, which she figured couldn't mean anything good since she's up before him. All she can do is hope he wakes up soon.

Rubbing her eyes, Maeve was able to get a better look at everything around her. Across the room was another bed with a girl unconscious, her chest was rising and falling at a normal pace with reassured Maeve that the girl wasn't dead. Beside mystery's girl bed, was a women who seemed to be checking on her. This girl didn't that Maeve was awake, perhaps that was a good thing.

Maeve was on edge with everything, she wasn't sure who these people are or what kind of people they are. There is still so much mystery around this place, that she wasn't sure any of this was trust worthy. But she wanted to find out because they saved them, if they were truly bad people who wanted to hurt them it would have been easier to leave them out there in the woods or take them when they were at their weakest and couldn't fight back. Why save them? Why give them medicine? Food and water? Nowadays these are essential things that shouldn't be wasted blindly.
