THE THREE MUSKETEERS
———

MAEVE LEANED AGAINST THE CAR while Elliott stood in front of her, her arms crossed over she chest as he had his hands in his pant pocket. Elliott was leaving to go on a supply run with Daryl and Rick, so Maeve was saying her quick goodbye, "Be careful."

Elliott gave his classic charming smile and replied, "When am I not?"

This earned an eye roll from her, as she pushed off the car and was ready to get back to her job. Elliott wasn't satisfied with this half ass goodbye, so he grabbed her hips to pull her into him. Causing her body to practically crash into his as he kissed her. Maeve instinctively placed her hands on his biceps in shock of what was happening.

If she wanted to kiss him, she would've. But she didn't instead Maeve gave him a small shove pushing him off of her slightly. Not hard enough to force him away from her, just enough to pull their lips apart. Once that was separated, Maeve took a side step away from him, shooting him a tiny smile.

As she was about to leave, her eyes drifted to the side mirror of the car, seeing the reflection of Daryl. His eyes staring at them, watching them—but the second their eyes locked. Daryl forced his eyes away, Maeve cleared her throat. Finally leaving as Elliott slide into the backseat of the car. Watching out the back window as Maeve left, a terrible feeling settling in his gut. Something he decided to ignore for now.

After a small, slightly confusing, conversation with Eugene, the three men drove off. Rick in the driver seat, Daryl in passenger and Elliott in the back.

Rick was weaving between the cars they put up for protection as they drive away from Alexandria, but once they were clear from that, Rick floored it. Speeding off down the road.

Elliott attention was caught by what was dangling from the rearview mirror, it just looks like a black ball until it spins around.

"An 8ball?" Elliott questions out loud.

Daryl turns his eyes to the dangling 8ball, going back to how Maeve put it up there after their trip to the gas station. She gave no explanation, just put it there and for over a month Daryl kept it there. Anyone else who uses this car knows never to take it off.

"Mhm, Maeve did it." Daryl briefly explained.

"Really? Hm, I thought she forgot about her tattoo." Elliott shrugged as he leaned back.

Once when Elliott and Maeve were laying together over a year ago, he noticed the 8ball tattoo she had at the nape of her neck. When he pointed it out, Maeve explained how it was her eighteenth birthday present to herself, something about how it represents freedom or something. She has forgotten about it every time.

"Today's the day." Rick came in changing the topic, glancing between the two, "We're gonna find food, maybe some people."

"I don't know. We won't seen nobody for weeks. Maybe we ain't gonna find nobody." Daryl replied.

"Maybe that's for the best, we can barely feed the mouths we got. Really wanna struggle to feed more?" Elliott asked, leaning forward as Rick looked over at him, "More people is gonna turn the hunger into starvation. I've been there, ain't worth it."

Daryl hums in agreement as Rick just looks over at them, giving them both a look of disapproval.

Now, it might have been as a punishment when Rick decided that music could cheer them up. He was partly right since Daryl practically begged him to stop while Elliott grins from ear to ear as the song starts to play. He even leaned forward and turned it up louder, earning the deadliest death glare from Daryl as Elliott started to tap on the middle console with his hands to the beat. Annoying the hell out of Daryl, in a good way.
