THE OUTPOST
———DARYL GRABS AHOLD OF MAEVE, just in time for the Saviours to start shooting at them—and thankfully missing. With their backs pressed against a wall out of the line of fire, Maeve and Daryl grabbed their guns. Maeve crouched and took the low ground so that Daryl could lean above her, that way they could both start shooting at their awoken enemies.
With bullets flying and adrenaline pumping, Maeve somehow manages to miss getting shot in the shoulder. She could practically feel the air of the bullet just graze her bare skin.
The shock of it caused Maeve to throw her back against the wall, gasping for air as she brought a hand up to her shoulder, trying to feel for a wound. Surprised she was still sitting up right.
"Maeve—Maeve what is it?" Daryl asked, dropping to the ground next to her seeing her stunned expression, worried for her life.
But Maeve only responded with a laugh, a scary laugh like she couldn't believe it, she breathes out, "Sons of bitches nearly got me."
Daryl grabs her hand and moves it, seeing that there is no blood or anything on her. She was fine, that was if she didn't do anything stupid—
"Assholes!" Maeve shouted as she jumped out from behind the wall suddenly, lifting her gun up and rapid shooting her gun at each Saviour. She stood there fully exposed, but her rapid fire was faster than any of the Saviours. They were dead the second her eyes landed on them.
By some luck, Maeve managed to kill them all before a bullet could graze her. Their bodies dropped like flies, and suddenly, the path was clear. Not a Saviour left standing.
Maeve exhaled, lowering her gun as she felt relief wash over her. A rush of power and adrenaline, it made her feel strong, made her feel unstoppable.
"Maeve!" Daryl shouted, his voice filled with anger as he stepped out from behind the wall. Grabbed her arm and forced her to look at him and was shocked to see a smug look on her face. Like she was proud of herself.
"What?" She asked, looking at him confused as if she had no idea what could have possibly made him so angry.
Daryl looked like he was about to say something, most likely to yell at her—but there was more shots fired. They knew this conversation would have to be put on hold, whatever it was that Daryl wanted to yell about could wait. So, Daryl used the grip he had on her arm, and pushed her ahead of him and deeper down the hallway as he shot at the Saviours.
The two took turns shooting behind them as they ran away, covering each other and taking out as many as they could. The plan was still to leave no saviour behind, but it was also to stay alive. So far they seemed to be doing good, taking enough down but they just seemed to keep on coming. Like an infinite stream of bad guys.
That's when their luck ran out, and they reached a dead end. There was a door, but it was locked. They went to turn back, but the Saviours beat them. Now they were blocked in and in a shoot out, Maeve holding her gun up as Daryl started to kick down the door.
There is shooting in the distance, and they could hear their friends in fights of their own. Meaning no one was going to help them, it was either this door or death. Right now, death seemed to be creeping up on them as this door would not budge.
"Any day now!" Maeve shouted as she knew that she was starting to run low on ammo.
This seemed to be enough for Daryl to give it all of his strength in one last kick that brought the door to swing open. Daryl rushed into the room as Maeve finishing off the last of the men that were shooting at them, it took Daryl grabbing her arm and pulling her inside to make her stop.
