END IN SIGHT
———
"THEY WERE FIRING AT OUR FEET." Rick tells the group, "They blocked the road but they weren't trying to stop us. They want us in this direction."
"They have a plan for us, they want us to know that they have the people, the ammo and the resources to make us take their path. To play their game." Maeve added, from where she stood near the front, her arms crossed as more then a million thoughts ran through her mind. Starting with how the hell they were going to get their friends back.
Sasha and Eugene go on to explain their path options that they could take at this point, how they only have one thing of gas left--meaning that they can't be going back and fourth all day and night like this. Then after that, they are running on fumes which wouldn't be nearly enough to get the to Hilltop and back home.
At that moment, Louis comes walking into the room. A grim look on his face as he sniffled to himself, clearly stressed out since he couldn't help her the way he wanted to.
"She's burning up." Louis informs the group, making their looks turn sour as even more bad news was being given to them.
"What's happening to her?" Carl was the one to ask what everyone was wondering.
Louis sighed a little, "It could be a lot of things, but no way of knowing without a doctor. She's just getting worse."
"And her baby?" Maeve asked the ultimate question, if the baby was still kicking in there. Louis looked at his sister, his eyes unsure of an answer but he had no way of knowing. He was just a boy trying to help his best friend, he wasn't qualified for this.
Milo could feel his heart physically breaking inside his chest, he couldn't be standing out here listening to people talk about what might be wrong with her. So, Milo went to the back where Maggie lay, and decided it was best if he just stay with her from now on. No matter how hard it is to look at her in this state, it was better than not looking at her at all. Louis followed him.
Once again, they had yet another road blocked. This time by ten times the amount as before, it was to the point where they couldn't take them on. It would be ten to one, if that. They had no chance, they had to go back—again.

Maeve went into the back room, spotting Milo sitting there staring sadly at a sleeping Maggie. Maeve takes a seat next to him, their arms touching as her presences in made known. Milo doesn't look over at her, only stares down at the ground in pain.
"You doin' okay?" Maeve whispered, not wanting to wake Maggie but wanting to check on him still.
Milo simply responded with a shake of his head, his curly hair falling in front of his face as he felt the tears pool to the front of his eyes. Being asked if he was okay was a breaking point, he couldn't lie because his tears would give them away. So he hide them, dropping his head down and shielded it from Maeve's view.
Although, Maeve saw—or at least she knew. That's why she grabbed his head, and gently forced it down onto her shoulder. Milo gave in, letting her hold him as she soothingly massaged his head.
In this moment, Milo was reminded of his love for Maeve. How she's been able to just understand him with having to saving anything. He didn't need to tell her how he was feeling, she just knew, that's how it's been. Maeve was his best friend and in this moment he needed her more than ever—not even just in this moment, but forever. He can't lose Maeve, not over something as simple as dating his brother.
