AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU
———

MAEVE CREAKS OPEN THE FRONT DOOR, tiptoeing inside her own home to avoid waking anyone up in the house. It was dark, hard to see as she manoeuvred through the shadows. But anyone would have been able to see that she was smiling brightly.

Although today had been one of the worst days she's had in a long time, after nearly losing her brother and fighting the Saviours. Tonight was one of the best nights she's ever had, a night where she felt free for once in her life. The moments replaying in her mind on a loop, Daryl—his energy clashing with hers as they released every feeling they've ever had towards one another.

It felt right. It felt right to be this happy, although it was strange. It was the best kind of strange, and Maeve didn't want to let that go. Now that she had it, she'd chase it for as long as she lives.

As Maeve is creeping her way to the stairs, she hears a shuffling noise come from the living her. Making her half her movements and snap her head in that direction, seeing nothing but the couches.

Now confused and slightly worried, Maeve took a step back. Bringing the living room more into her view, seeing the darkness surround the area with only moonlight shining from the large window. Maeve squinted her eyes, looking for something in the dark, and even taking a few steps closer to get a look.

Suddenly a head slowly raised from the couch, causing Maeve to jump nearly a mile in the air as she felt her heart stop beating—"Jesus christ!" Maeve whispered yelled.

Her hand shot to her heart, catching her breath after the worst jump-scare of her life.

When the head came into view, she saw the tired face of her little brother. Kai's eyes still partly closed as he rubbed them tiredly, yawning as he asked, "Evie? Is that you?"

Once she was settled, Maeve responded with a confirming hum. Nodding her head but knew that he would not be able to see that, that's when she started to make her way towards the couch where he laid. Stepping around to be his front of him, his head lazily following her.

Now that she was fully in the living room, she was able to see that Kai was laying on the couch—but he wasn't alone. On the same couch as Kai was Enid, he head on the opposite end, on a separate couch was Louis who was asleep. They were covered with blankets, looking cozy on the couches.

"Why are you guys down here?" Maeve whispered to Kai, bending down next to where Kai laid. He was sitting up on his elbows right now, looking at her with long slow blinks.

"Enid didn't want Louis sleep alone, so we stayed up with him and made a sleepover out of it." Kai answered with a raspy tired voice.

Maeve looked over to the sleeping girl opposite of Kai, she curled up into a ball as her blanket slipped from her body. In the time Maeve's known Enid, she really become apart of this family. She's been a blessing, she's made Kai happier and has brought something to their family that they didn't know they needed.

Just looking at her, Maeve smiled. Appreciating the young girl who's become like a little sister to her, to her girl. Maeve is more and more thankful for her everyday.

"Where were you?" Kai asked, once again rubbing his eyes awake.

"With a friend." Maeve answered vaguely, "How's Lou doing?"
