DAD
———

RORY SAT ON THE FRONT PORCH of someone's home with her dad sitting on the step below her. Rory never looked over at him, she couldn't bring herself to do it. There was still blood on him from what happened just half an hour prior. They haven't spoken, they couldn't. She couldn't. Every time he'd glance back at her, Rory got a flashe of images of him like that again. Fuming with rage after just filling a man, clothes stained with blood and hands soaked in it.

Rory pushed past the men, and began to walk away. Bringing a hand to her mouth, trying not to throw up. Not that she has never seen a dead body, it was just that she had never seen her dad kill somebody with that look in his eyes, it was like he... enjoyed it.

As she was walking away, she could hear the rapid footsteps following her and that only made her pace quicken. She was quite literally running away from her dad.

"Rory. Rory!" He called out to her, but she felt like she couldn't. Her feet had minds of their own, their only mission was to get away somewhere safe. Like Carl. Like Louis. She needed them, one of them. Both of them. Just someone-- "Rory."

Rick grabbed her arm, turning her around and put both of his hands on either side of her arms. Holding her in place, he looked her up and down in shock. Trying to see if she was real, if it was really his daughter in the flesh. It was and her only wish was that she could disappear, because she couldn't look him in the eyes. His eyes were the worst kind of torture, they always told her how disappointed he was, always told her how rude she was or how much of a mess up she was being without every actually having to say the words.

This time, his eyes told her that killing that man wasn't necessary but was an accomplishment. Something he had been waiting to do, something that was on his mind and the second he was given the opportunity he took it. That's what his eyes told her, and she was terrified of it.

"I'm so sorry you had to see that," He was crying, he even fell to his knees so that she had no where to look but him and his face. She was taller than him now and his bloody, scared face was looking up at her. "Ro-"

"Dad," She whispered, so quietly because she was scared of the words she said, "You killed him."

As she said his name, tears fell down her own cheeks, matching his. He looked to the ground dropping his head in shame, trying to find the words to explain himself but he couldn't even wrap his head around her being here, being alive. When he didn't say anything, Rory stepped back from her dad, he reached for her but once he failed he he stood up. Towering over her as she continued to walk backwards.

With each step, her heart broke a bit watching him follow after her slowly to keep distance out of fear of her reaction. Then, she felt the back of her heels hit wood and as a result she fell back, only to find herself now sitting on a porch. Rick stood there for a moment, and she was now refusing to look at him. That's when he followed and sat on the step one below her. When he turned back to speak, he saw his daughter's expression and her fear along with it. The pure terror she wasn't able to wrap her head around, the sight broke him, his daughter broke him. It was taking everything in him not to just hug her and tell him how much he loves her, but he knew that wasn't what she needed right now.

They haven't talked since, they have been sitting on these steps for thirty minutes. She had calmed down and stopped crying, her breathing was normal. Part of her wanted to talk to her dad, have him hold her and comfort her after what she just saw but Rick was the reason she needed comforting.
