SEEING GHOSTS
---
MILO, MAEVE AND ENID rush into the old bakery, throwing open the door and closing it just as fast. Maeve was the last in, and the last the drop down into one of the seats. Panting like a dog, Milo not doing much better.
"I think I was still drunk." Maeve breathed out, dropping her head onto the dust table, feeling the world get dizzy.
Milo's head shot up quickly, like he had realized something. Maeve felt concerned wash over her until Milo said, "I think I might get sick!" Then he jumped up and ran towards the back room, out of sight.
Maeve stood up, thinking that she was going to go check on Milo or possibly get sick with him, but then her eyes caught Enid. Staring down at a watch while glancing out the window anxiously. Maeve knew something was wrong, she figured Milo could puke by himself.
"Enid," Maeve called her name, who didn't even look back at her, "Enid, who fired the shots?"
The silence was long to Maeve, she was anxiously waiting for the names of who else was in this town. Someone had to have fired those shots, couldn't have been Enid. That means someone or multiple people are out there with a large group of walkers on their ass.
"Glenn."
No. There was no possible, reasonable, logical reason that that could be true. Maeve was there, she was there when Glenn fell. She heard his screams, she saw the blood splattering as the walkers devoured him. She comforted Milo as he cried for what felt like hours, she held him. Could that all have been for nothing?
"Impossible. I watched him die."
"Did you?" Enid raised a brow, as she turned around to face Maeve, "He rolled under the dumpster. Came out when it was clear, said he needed to get you guys."
Still, Maeve found it impossible to believe. Yet, it made her think. Made her replay the moments in her mind. As she thinks more, she comes to realize that she never saw Glenn died. Just thought she heard it. Is it possible that he's alive? Why would Enid lie?
She wanted it to be Glenn, but she knew that if it was it meant he was still out there with the walkers.
"Where did he go?" Maeve asked, her voice above a whisper trying to have Milo not hear her.
"Led the walkers away. Said he'd meet back here within 20 minutes, if not, we leave without him." Enid answered. Not what Maeve wanted to here.
"I'm going after him." Maeve stated, grabbing her things and turning around. Ready to go get him.
Milo can't lose Glenn twice. If it was really him, she won't let him die this time. Glenn was everything to everyone, Maeve was nothing compared to him. She'll make sure that Glenn is the one going one, even if she has to die to make sure of-the door opened.
Maeve froze, staring at the door. A figure, hidden by shadows, stood there. The air in Maeve's lungs left, her throat dried up and for some reason she wanted to fight this figure. If it was Glenn, she was angry he died, if it wasn't she wanted to kill whoever it was for making her want it to be Glenn.
Then, they stepped into the light. When she saw who it was, she dropped her machete. For there stood Glenn, not devoured or dead. Looking alive and as well as one could after being through what he'd been through.
