VOLUNTEER

CHAPTER 13

JAKE'S POV

Jake hung the phone up after calling Sunghoon. He had just finished practice. He really didn't want to go get all dressed up for the dinner party, especially since Jay already decided no to go. Jake grabs his gym bag and walks over where Yeonjun and Niki.

"Ayo Jake, you got anything going on tonight?" Yeonjun asked him as he walked over.

"Nah, was gonna go to dinner at a friends house but I think imma skip it." Jake answered. "What y'all up to?"

"I have to meet up with my fraternity after this." Yeonjun replied putting both hands in his pockets.

"Ahh, what about you Niki?" Jake asked putting his hands on Niki's shoulder.

Niki looks at Jake. "I have a study group to attend to." He answered.

"Ahhhhgggg I should study." Jake said in reply with an exasperated tone.

Their coach gets all their attention passing out a piece of paper. "Okay everyone, don't forget to complete your volunteer sheet for the semester. As long as you guys gets some hours done, it shouldn't be too bad." He advised the whole team. All three of them got their volunteer sheet.

"I almost forgot about the volunteer hours." Yeonjun said.

Jake looks at the paper. "Uuughhhh" Jake whined again.

"Where do we sign up for volunteer hours?" Niki asked his seniors.

"Office space. Haewon would be good to ask about it too." Yeonjun adviced Niki.

"Oh yeah, I can probably ask Jungwon too." Niki said before putting the paper in his book bag.

"I should head over there after this, so I can get it out of the way." Jake said.

All three got their stuff out of the locker and walked out of the sports center. It was still pretty early, so he decided to go to office space to ask about volunteering opportunities. He made his way to that part of the school. His timing was just right since Haewon was still there.

HAEWON'S POV

Haewon was almost done studying. She checked the time to see it was already 6:30pm. She started putting her stuff in her bag and pack up for the day. As she was packing up, she hears the door open. She looks up to see Jake back at the office space.

"Hey, can you help me with something." Jake said greeting her.

"What can I help you with?" She asked while continuing to pack.

Jake walks closer to where she stood. "I just need help signing up for some volunteer hours."

"Sure, do you have any idea what you want to volunteer for?" Haewon asked.

"Uhhhh... no. I was hoping you'd help me with thaaaat." He said giving a helpless look.

Haewon looks at him dead unimpressed. "Jake, really?"

"Ohh so you do know who I am!" Jake said getting off topic.

Haewon rolls her eyes at him and sighed in frustration.

"Okay, okay. Sorry, but I do really need help." Jake said putting both of his hands up.

Haewon puts on her back pack getting ready to leave. "There's a beach cleanup coming up, I can put you down for that, is that good?" She asked.

"That's fine." Jake said giving her a big smile. "Thank you."

"Okay good. I'll give you the details tomorrow." She told him. She went to grab a box that looked to heavy to carry. Jake noticed how she was struggling again to lift it.

"You need help?" Jake asked.

"No, I'm good." Haewon said still visibly struggling. She almost stumbles but Jake catches her

"I think you need help." Jake nervously laughed a little to make light of the situation. He grabs the box from her.

Giving up, Haewon let's him grab the box from her. "Thank you, I just need to get to my car."

"Gotcha." He said carrying the box.

Haewon was a little apprehensive towards Jake. They were two different types of popular. Not gonna lie, Haewon was little jealous of him. He was a legacy and seemed like he never had to worked a day in his life. PLUS he's a known fuck boy. Both walked to the student parking lot in a weird silence.

"You must be really busy, being student body president." Jake tried to start a conversation.

"Yeah." Haewon said looking ahead.

"C'mon, I don't bite." Jake chuckled at her dry answer.

"I know that. There's just not much to talk about." She said back to him.

"Is it because of the night of the party?" Jake's asked looking at her.

"No." She said defensively. "What you do off campus is none of my business." She said crossing her arms.

"Ok, good. Let's be friends from now on." Jake said.

NIKI'S POV

Niki just got out of practice and went straight to his study group for one of his classes. He didn't want to get behind so he decided to join last minute. He went to the library where they had a study room reserved for the night.

"Sorry I'm a couple minutes." Niki said coming inside the room and taking a seat next to a girl with long black hair. She smiles at him and shares the notes he missed for the 20 minutes he was late.

The study session lasted about another hour and a half. Everyone was packing up to leave. Niki packed his stuff away. As he was about to leave the girl approached him.

"Hey" the girl tapped him on his arm.

Niki turns around to face her.

"I don't know anyone at this study group. I wanted to ask you if wanted to be each other's study buddy for future homework or something." She explained looking up at him.

Niki looked at the girl. "Yeah sure, I don't know if. I'll be much help but yeah." He replied to her.

"Okay yay." She hands him her phone to put his number in. "My name is Leeseo by the way." She smiled at him.

Niki takes her phone and puts his number on her phone. "Niki." He said smiling back at her.
