CHAPTER 41

JAYXHANNI

JAY'S POV

Jay had just got off the phone with Jake with no clues on what happened the night before. He woke up in his apartment all confused. He tried to remember what happened last and remembered he went to a party. He ended up sleeping on the couch. He tried to roll over and felt thumping on his head. Jay was suffering a mad hangover.

"Ahh." He grunted as he put a hand on his forehead. He grabs his phone and checked his messages. He was surprised to see Hanni was the last one he texted. He quickly tapped on it only to be met with embarrassment.

"Fuck." Jay said under his breath.

He sees the texts he doesn't remember sending to her. They weren't lies but he didn't want to tell her like this. He then sees that she never replied to what he said. This didn't give him much hope. The sighed and muster up the courage to test her first.

Jay: please
Jay: I like you

Jay: hey, sorry
Jay: i was drunk.
Hanni: I figured
Jay: im good now

Jay stopped texting her since he wanted to speak to her in person. He felt texting his feelings will come off as insensitive. He just didn't know how to come up with a good idea to see her.

Jay finally gets out of the couch and does into his kitchen to grab a glass of water. At this point he wanted to get something in his stomach to ease his hangover. He grabbed a glass pitcher and poured himself a glass. As he was about to take a sip, his phone rings again.

He quickly grabbed his phone to see who was calling him in hopes it might be Hanni. He was met with disappointment when he saw his dad finally call him. He actually expected this call, he was grateful at least since they gave him some space before calling.

Jay took a deep breath before answering the phone. "Hey Dad." He answered.

"Jay, did you have time to cool down? Let's have a little chat." His dad didn't waste anytime.

Jay massaged his temple from his dad's loud voice over the phone. "Okay, I'll be there soon." He said.

"I'll see you in a little bit." His dad said before saying goodbye.

"Wait." Jay interrupted.

"What?!" His dad asked with a little concern.

"Do we have soup in the house?" Jay asked.

The line was quiet for a second. "Jay, get your ass over here." He snapped.

"Yup." He said a little scared before hanging up.

"Auhhhghhhaaaaahgggg" he groan as he dragged himself to his bedroom to get dressed to see his parents. He knows they're probably not too happy about him leaving in the middle of an important dinner but they always had a soft spot for their only kid.

Jay took a Tylenol and headed over to his parents house. He parked his car upfront and went in through the main entrance. He went upstairs to meet his dad at his office. This is where he usually went when he knew he was in trouble. He slowly opened the door to see his mom and dad talking to each other at his desk.

"Yooo." He said as he crept inside.

Both of his parents head turned to look who entered. "Alright, have a seat." His dad instructed him as Jay followed.

"How's the apartment?" His dad said. Powermove since he was the one paying for it.

"It's good." Jay doubled down. They made a deal in the beginning of the year that if he made good grades, he can keep the apartment.

"Jay, you don't want to get married?" His mom cut to the chase.

"Of course I do, just not right now. Also preferably with some who mutually liked me" he confessed.

"Sullyoon doesn't like you?" His mom asked again.

"What? No. We just don't like each other." Jay said in defense.

"You didn't give it time." His mom argued back.

"No, she's actually scary." Jay said.

"Jay!" His mom corrected him.

"I'm just saying." Jay continued.

"Okay well, I guess we don't have to force you since you don't want to." His dad finally intervened.

"Wait? that's it?" Jay raised an eyebrow.

"The Yeon company was the one that reached out if they wanted to partner up to capitalize but if you're not on board, there's not much we can do." His dad explained.

"Okay.....cool." He said still a bit confused busy wasn't going to argue with it.

"But if you're 30 and still single we will take matters into our own hands." His mom pressed again.

"And keep up your grades too." His dad added.

"Ok, ok. May I go now?" Jay said finally over the conversation.

"You are dismissed." His dad said while going back to his paperwork.

"Great." He bolts out the office but goes back and peeps in again. "I love you guys." Jay said before leaving for real.

Jay left his house in high spirits. He took his phone out to text Hanni back.

*text*
Jay: hey are you home?
Hanni: no, I'm at club library
Jay: studying
Hanni: im almost done. Why?
Jay: im omw
Hanni: huh??

Jay tossed his phone on the passenger seat. He made his way to a floral shop and bought her flowers. He quickly drove to the library catching her exit the building. Jay hurriedly got out of the car and walked over to her.

HANNI'S POV

Hanni saw Jay with a bouquet of flowers in his hand as he approached her. She looked around to see if anyone else was around. He turns back to him as he stood in front of her.

"Hey." Jay spoke first. "This is for you." He said nervously as he handed the flowers to her.

Hanni held the flowers and gave him a faint smile. "Jay I-" she started.

"Look, I really want to apologize, for everything. I didn't mean to keep us a secret, and I don't want to. I really do like you. I just want to start over." He explained to her whole looking into her eyes.

"What about your engagement?" Hanni furrowed her eyebrows.

"It doesn't matter anymore. I want to get to know you better." He said to her.

"Jay, I don't know. I don't think I should get into anything right now. I really should focus on my studies." Hanni lied. She was building a wall so that she wouldn't get her feeling hurt again.

Jay was visibly disappointed with her answer but didn't want to push. She might needed time to think about it. "Okay."

"I'm sorry. I'll see you around, Jay." Hanni said before leaving for the dorms.

Jay looked back at her direction as she walked away.
