The warm heat radiating off of the tight, cramped surroundings brought Jayden a sense of peace. She hugged her knees close to her, praying quietly that no one would find her. She didn't want to go to school. She didn't want to know what bad things would come from Sue co-coaching the Glee Club.
Time went by. She could hear the quiet sound of her dads in the kitchen preparing her and Rachel's lunches. From above her, she could hear her sister doing vocal warm ups in her bathroom.
Just a few more minutes.
Please don't find me.
I don't want to go to school.
"Rachel, where's Jayden?" LeRoy asked as his oldest daughter came into the kitchen.
"I thought she was down here with you guys?" Rachel questioned as she poured some orange juice into a glass.
"We thought she was upstairs with you," Hiram said as he exchanged a look with his husband.
Rachel took a sip of her juice and thought things over for a moment. Jayden wasn't upstairs, and she wasn't downstairs. That could only leave...
"I know where she is," Rachel sighed, setting her glass of orange juice down on the counter before making her way to the laundry room.
Jayden held her breath when she heard the laundry room door open. She heard footsteps, and a few moments later, Rachel opened the dryer door.
The younger girl squinted as the light hit her eyes, and she whined, shuffling further into the dyer wall.
"Jayden, you can't keep hiding in here," Rachel said as she reached a hand out to her sister, who hesitantly took it. "It isn't safe."
"I don't wanna go to school," Jayden pouted as Rachel helped her climb out of the dryer. "Coach Sylvester's gonna make our lives hell."
"Life isn't about hiding from your problems, Jayden Bernadette," the older girl said. "It's about facing challenges like this and growing stronger because of them."
"No," Jayden whined, pouting as she wrapped her arms around her sister's waist and hid her face in her chest.
"Yes," Rachel said, rubbing the smaller girl's back. "You're gonna be just fine, Jay. Besides, it's not like you're going to be all alone with Coach Sylvester. I'm gonna be right there with you."

"The following students have been selected for a special elite Glee Club called Sue's Kids."
Panic flooded throughout Jayden's entire body as she turned to Rachel in the row behind her with wide eyes.
"Relax, you know she's just gonna pick the Cheerios and the football players," the older Berry whispered as Jayden numbly nodded and turned back to face the front of the room.
As Mr. Schue and Sue argued about splitting up the group, Brittany couldn't help but feel bad as she watched Jayden's body language. The younger girl was bouncing her leg, and she was biting her nail. The blonde knew that Sue could be scary at times, but she had no idea that Jayden was so afraid of her.
Santana scoffed, rolling her eyes at how childish the youngest member of the Glee Club was acting. Sue isn't scary. It makes sense, however, that Jayden would be scared of her since the girl was afraid of the littlest things, such as bees.
"Alright, everybody. Listen up," Sue's voice rang out across the choir room. "When you hear your name called, cross over to my side of this black, shiny thing."
"That's called a piano, Sue," Mr. Schue mumbled.
"Santana! Wheels! Gay kid! Come on! Move it!" Sue yelled as Santana, Artie, and Kurt made their way over to her side of the piano. "Asian! Other Asian. Jewish girl... no, not you, Barbra. The little one. Aretha. And Shaft."
