"Guys, I've got some bad news," Mr. Schue said as he walked into the choir room with an envelope. "You know how we decided on Sing by My Chemical Romance for regionals? Well, I hold in my hand a cease and desist letter from the band. We can't do it."

"Just our luck," Jayden grumbled as she crossed her arms over her chest and sank down lower in her chair.

"It was the perfect anthem," Puck scoffed.

"How much you wanna bet Coach Sylvester has something to do with this?" Mercedes asked.

"One step ahead of you," Mr. Schue rolled his eyes. "I already confronted her in the teachers' lounge, and she confirmed it."

"So, what are we gonna do now?" Jayden asked.

"I think we should write original songs for regionals," Rachel suggested.

"All those in favor of voting Rachel down a second time?" Santana asked as almost the whole club raised their hands.

"No, I think Rachel's right," Quinn spoke up.

"Me, too," Jayden agreed, nodding.

"This team works best when we push ourselves and do something different," Quinn said.

"That's true, but if all the other teams are doing amazing songs, we're not gonna be so good," Mercedes said as she shook her head.

"You're right," Quinn nodded. "We're not gonna be as good. We're gonna be better. We won't be using other people's words or music. It'll be our own. Our own heart, soul...not just our voices. We have a really talented songwriter in our midst."

"Who showed you my private notebook?" Jayden gasped, her brows pulling together as she turned to face the blonde. "Those were secret."

"Rachel."

"Oh, you meant her," Jayden mumbled, cheeks flushing red with embarrassment.

"Guppy, did you write a song?" Brittany asked, smiling a little.

"...No."

"I was thinking maybe you and I could write a song together," Quinn said when Rachel turned to look at her.

"I'm with Quinn and Rachel," Finn agreed.

"No one asked you," Jayden mumbled as she took a sip of water to try and make the hunger she felt go away.

"If these two can agree on something, it's probably an idea worth considering," Finn said.

"Wait, so suddenly you two are writing the music for regionals?" Santana frowned. "No way. Everyone should get a chance to write a song."

"Santana's right," Sam agreed. "We can do this."

"What do you think, Mr. Schue?" Mercedes asked.

"I think we're doing original songs for regionals," Mr. Schue said as everyone clapped.

Jayden stared down at her dinner plate, watching as the steam rised off of the rice. Her fork pushed around a steamed broccoli floret, her nose scrunching in disgust as she eyed the melted butter shining on it.

She took a sip of water, anxious eyes looking up at Rachel as she sat across from her with Quinn.

"I'm not hu–"

"No," Rachel interrupted, shaking her head. "No, Jayden, we're not playing this game."

"Even if you just eat a little, it's better than nothing, bub," Quinn said, concerned green eyes watching the girl across from her.
