"Hey, guys," Mr. Schue said as he walked into the choir room. "In spite of the complete lack of representation at the career fair, I know that a lot of you are thinking about a career in the arts."

"He's talking about you, future professional dancer." Iris nudged Jayden with her shoulder and smiled.

"No, I'm pretty sure he's talking about you, movie star in the making." Jayden grinned.

"It's no secret that Sue Sylvester doesn't believe that an artistic career is a very practical idea," Mr. Schue continued. "And, for once, I have to admit she's right. It's completely impractical."

"Bitch, what?" Bernadette gasped, her jaw dropping as she stared at the man in disbelief. "He better not come in here and puke on our dreams. That goes against everything he's told us for the past 4 years."

"You know, anyone pursuing the arts needs to go in with their eyes wide open. We're talking zero job security and impossible odds. But, I've always believed that you have to pursue what you love. That's why this week's assignment is about a goofy-looking kid who struggled for years in the music business."

Kitty smiled to herself. "Finally. It's Marilyn Manson week."

"Close," Mr. Schue said as he wrote on the board. "Billy Joel."

"Who?" Unique frowned.

"You did not!" Lyla gasped.

"How can you not know who Billy Joel is?" Leilani asked as she stared at Unique dumbfoundedly. "He's a musical genius who's sold over 150 million records worldwide."

"That's right." Mr. Schue nodded. "Billy had to fight every step of the way in his career. He had countless failures and disappointments, writing songs that nobody wanted, playing piano in seedy bars just to pay the rent, being told he'd never make it because he didn't look right."

"Translation, too Jewish," August mumbled as Jake nodded in confirmation.

"But he ignored the haters, and he kept pursuing his dream, becoming the third best-selling solo artist of all time. He is a true inspiration to anyone pursuing a career in the arts, like our very own Mr. Blaine Anderson, Mr. Sam Evans, and Ms. Jadelynn Berry."

"-July," Jayden corrected with an annoyed eye roll. However, she couldn't help but smile a little when the club clapped for her and the boys.

"As some of you may or may not know, this week, Jade and I have our big NYADA auditions," Blaine said. "I know. It's terrifying. So, we're leaving today to maybe get some last-minute tips from Kurt and Rachel."

"I'm not scared." Jayden shook her head.

"You have no reason to be either way." Julia smiled. "Your mom's gonna make sure you get in."

"I'm gonna get in because I'm talented, not because Cassie is a dance teacher there," Jayden stated.

"I'm going with them, too, cause I have an interview with the theatre department at Hunter College," Sam told the club. "They saw and they loved my 'Tornado of Talent' impressions reel, and I'm up for this awesome scholarship, the Channing Tatum Former Male Stripper Grant."

"I'm pretty sure that's not a real thing, and you just made that up." August frowned.

"But we spoke to Mr. Schue, and because we have to miss this week's lesson, he thought the least we could do is maybe–"

"Kick it off with our very own take on a classic BJ," Sam interrupted Blaine, who shook his head at the nickname. "Billy Joel. Hit it."
