a/n - this chapter introduces new characters, so if you didn't already, make sure you check the updated cast list on the previous part so you know who's playing who!
as mentioned in the author's note on that chapter, i will be using the chapter number from now on because it's so hard coming up with chapter titles when a chapter is all original content, like this one

Jayden Berry walked through the double doors of William McKinley High School with more confidence than she's felt in her entire 16 years of life.
She didn't know what it was. Maybe it was the caffeine in her system or the help of antidepressants, but she was excited about the second semester, and even more excited about being captain of the Dance Angels.
She'd been working privately with Sue in preparation for the first week, as well as the extra help she received from Brittany and Santana. She'd gained the majority of her flexibility back, and she was ready to lead the new dance team to victory as they entered the competition season.
She walked into her office – which Sue had set up for her in the brand-new Dangel's lounge – and took a seat at her desk.
Jayden's desk was neat and organized. She had a framed picture of her, Brittany, and Santana, as well as a framed photo of Oliver. She had a planner with important dates marked, a desk drawer at the bottom filled with snacks, a one-cup coffee maker, a stitch mug that Santana had gotten her, and a unicorn pen holder from Brittany that had all the office supplies that she could possibly need.
She took a sip of her coffee and looked over the Dangels roster. Counting herself, there were six dancers total. Unlike with Glee Club, there didn't need to be a total of 12 people in order to compete. She didn't expect a whole lot of people to try out – if one wanted to do a competitive sport, they'd most likely want to be in Cheerios – but it was a start.
A small start, but that was better than having to face a whole room full of dancers her first time captioning.
There was a knock on the door, and she smiled a little at Santana as she entered the office.
"Wow, Sue really hooked you up," she chuckled. "I swear, I saw Quinn's daughter in one of the practice rooms on my way down here."
Jayden chuckled softly and took a sip of coffee.
"So, how are you feeling?" Santana leaned back against the desk, watching her girlfriend as she spinned back and forth in the rolly chair.
"A little nervous," Jayden admitted as she played with the long sleeve over her oversized Dangels letterman. "There's one other junior on the team, the rest are freshman or sophomores. I guess I'm just worried that they're not gonna take me seriously."
"Jayden, of course they'll take you seriously," Santana smiled reassuringly at her. "You're their captain. You're one of them. And if there are any problems, let me know and I'll put their sorry asses in line."
Jayden smiled softly. "You're the best, Tana."
"I know I am," Santana shrugged innocently, smiling when Jayden laughed. She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. "How much time do you have before practice starts?"
"Like, 45ish minutes. Why?"
"Because you look so hot in that new uniform." Santana smirked a little as she straddled Jayden's lap and attached her lips to her neck. "But you'd look better without it."
Jayden let out a small whine at Santana's words, her hips bucking upward. "We can't get caught in here," she whispered.
"I locked the door on my way in," the Latina husked between open-mouthed kisses to the younger girl's neck.
