The Glitch

Lloyd smiled and said, "Nice to meet you, Okino. That's Cole, Kai, Nya, Misty, and Jay," he gestured to each of the ninjas in turn.

"I am honored. Allow me humbly to pledge my service," Okino said and he bowed and offered his sword up.

"Oh, gee, that's really not-" Nya tried to say but was cut off when Okino rushed forward and said, "I, Okino, samurai, pledge to serve you, and do all in my power to protect you and guide you to the Key-Tana," and he bent down on one knee and lowered his head.

"Thanks, Okino. That's-" Lloyd started to say but was cut off when Kai asked.

"Just out of curiosity, when you said you failed all your previous masters, how many are we talking here? Two? Three?" Kai asked

"Kai..." Nya hissed

"What? I can ask that, can't I?" Kai said

Okino sighed and gestured to the large number of swords sticking out of the ground.

"Oh... Yeah..." Jay said

Misty eyes widened seeing the numerous amount of. swords. "Okay, so a few. But this time will be different. Right, Okino?" Lloyd said quickly.

"Yes, I swear it," Okino said smiling brightly. The hopeful gleam in his eyes was the only thing stopping Misty from being completely terrified of the prospects ahead of them.

"Lead on, Okino. We trust you," Lloyd said

Okino picked up his sword, and said, "This way. Into the Forest of Discontent. And then beyond, past the Cliffs of Hysteria. And finally, the Maze of the Red Dragon. Okino and the ninja head into the Forest of Discontent. When they enter, they stopped.

"Forest of Discontent? Why do they call it that?" Kai asked all of a sudden spikes started shooting out of the nearby bushes. Okino blocked them with his sword before they could strike any of the ninjas.

"What was that?" Cole shouted and he pushed in front of Lloyd and Misty.

"Thorns of Discontent," Okino said

"It came from those bushes," Lloyd shouted and he pulled out his weapon. A sword with a glowing green blade. Its hilt looked like that of a video game controller.

"Let's spread out. Eight targets are harder to hit than one," Lloyd said

"Good idea. I got the bush in the middle," Cole said and he readied his weapon and his mask covered his face. Misty readied her weapon and said, "I'll cover you," and her mask covered her face as well.

"I'll take the one on the left," Nya added and pulled out her weapon and her mask materialized as well.

"I'll take the one on the right," Jay said and he pulled out his weapon but his mask didn't materialize.

"I'll hang back and make sure no bushes are following us," Kai said and he pulled out his weapon. Everyone looks at Kai in disbelief.

"What? I have one life left, remember?" Kai shouted defensively.

"Okay. On three." Lloyd said and his mask materialized and he said, "One, two, three!"

Kai's mask materialized and the ninja ran to the bushes to attack. Jay shouted "Ninja versus Bushes! Attack!"

Thorns of Discontent start shooting from the bushes. The ninja dodged them and slice through them with their weapons. They deflect the thorns with their weapons and destroyed the bushes.

Cole's mask came off. and he tossed his weapon into the air and said, "Wow! These new weapons are really awesome! That was-"A Thorn of Discontent struck him in the back, and he screamed In pain "Ahhhhhhh!"
