Masters Never Quit

Misty was walking side by side with Cole the group trailing farther behind them.

"So..." Cole said quietly looking at Misty for a second then looking away quickly.

"So?" Misty inquired looking at him questioningly

"You smiled..."

"Why does that matter?"

"Well, I haven't seen you smile in weeks. It's good to see it again," Cole said softly glancing at her.

"It's good to smile again," Misty agreed she brushed the hair out of her face as she offered Cole a lopsided smile. 

It looked like Cole was about to say something else when they heard screams of fear behind them.

"Run! Run!" Screamed Vania as she and the rest of the Upply were tearing down the tunnel toward Cole and Misty.

Misty saw a glowing red and orange light coming after the group.

"Is that the?!" She stammered as she started backing away.

"It is," Cole muttered grimly and he grabbed her arm and yanked her after him as he started running.

The Lava monster was in hot pursuit of the group now as they ran. It crawled through the tunnel using its tentacles to pull itself along. It shot lava balls at the group only barely missing them.

"I thought we lost this thing!" Plundar shouted the sparks from the flaming projectiles rained down on them as they ran. 

"Plundar think wrong!" Korgran roared.

"No more thinking. Just run!" Cole shouted he still had a grasp on Misty's arm holding tight as he ran. They ran and reached what looked like an abandoned railway with carts. "Everyone, into the carts!" Cole ordered pointing to the carts.

Vania jumped in followed by Wu, Misty, Plundar, and Fungus. Adam the spider crawled into the cart behind them.

"Are you sure these still work?" Vania asked nervously

"I am forced to agree with the Princess, this looks rather old!" Wu said

Trust me, it'll work! Korgran, gimmie a hand!" Cole said and he ran to the back of the carts. They push the carts together. Just as the Lava monster burst through and made its way toward them.

"Time to go! All aboard!" Plundar shouted. Cole rushed to the side of the cart. Misty grabbed his arm helping to pull him inside as Korgan jumped in. Cole kicked down the planks stopping them from going down the tracks and they screamed as they traveled along the tracks. A lava ball exploded behind them.

"I told you it would work! Whoo!" Cole cheered throwing his arms up in the air like he was on a roller coaster. "That's what you call a good idea!" He looked over at Vania and Misty who were beside him in the cart. Vania was hanging on to Misty and Misty was also hanging onto the princess.

"We're going too fast!" Vania shrieked as they whipped around sharp corners and down embankments on the rails.

"Hold on!" Wu warned

The cart rushed up a hill and into an open area with lava flowing under them. The car tilted dangerously to one side and a piece of rock tumbled into the lava below. "On that side! Quick!" Cole shouted and the team shuffled to the other side of the cart to balance it back out, "Oh, what kind of person would build a track like this?" He shouted gesturing to the track.

"I think I'm going to be sick," Fungus warned with a scream.

The cart slowed as it was going up a hill, "Whew. That was close." Cole chuckled with relief.
