Chapter 06: Robo-Corp

"... You can open your eyes now, Sonic. We're here." Shadow said as he tried to take off the safety belt that was Sonic's arms around him. Sonic opened his eyes slowly. They were in front of a large skyscraper-like building. It was an off light gray color and it was really big. The blue hedgehog was slightly intimated.
"Come on, Sonic. I'm running late."

They were in an elevator and on their way to one of the highest floors. Sonic couldn't help but wonder what Shadow would want in a place like this.
"So Shadz, what do you do here?"
"Work."
"How come?" The elevator stopped and the doors opened to a large hall way. It had big windows all across one side of the walls and you could look down at the surprisingly busy city. The two walked down said hall to a room labeled "Office S2".
"My father owns a business called Robo-Corp. Me and my brother mange it together when he's away. My brother takes over from Monday to Friday, while I have school, and I take over on the weekends and school based breaks." They stopped in front of the door as he opened it with a key card.

They walked inside to a large office with many windows as well and an office desk. Shadow sat down in his chair while Sonic took a different chair and took a seat as well. Later on, a white bat lady came in with a stack of paperwork. Shadow looked at her and held in a groan.
"Here Hun. Your brother needs all of these sighed." She said.
"Thank you Rouge. Tell Silver that someone should start practicing foraging father's signature."
"Rodger that, Shadow." The woman laughed and walked out of the room, her heels clacking as she did so.

The sound of a clock ticking, papers being signed and his own shoes tapping at a rapid pace began to bore Sonic out of his mind. Shadow was equally as annoyed and decided to look up at Sonic.
"Listen here, Mr light speed. Why don't you go explore for a bit? I doubt looking around would be more boring than waiting here until I'm done with my work." Sonic glared at him for a moment.
"I'm not a kid, Shadow."
"I'm not saying you're one. I'm only giving you a more interesting option." Sonic thought about it before agreeing and leaving the ebony hedgehog to his pen, paper and clock.

Outside the office, Sonic felt lost and a bit alone. He decided to look out the large windows and watch the ongoing traffic beneath him. Despite how high up he was, that was not what scared him. He jumped at the sound of a voice.
"Why hello dear. Did Shadow kick you out?" It was the lady Shadow referred to as Rouge. Sonic stayed silent for a while.
"Er... Kind of? I don't think he likes paper work that much.." He said. The lady giggled to herself.

"Well, if you're not caught up with him, why don't you help me, Amy and Big?"
"Help you do what?" She groaned at the thought of the tedious task.
"We have to organize a bunch of files, some we need to bring to either Shadow or Silver. So? Up to the task?"
"Sure."
