Sonadow: Coincidence

Chapter 14: Day off

It was the middle of October. Shadow was up early as he sat on the couch of their living room. He had his S mug in hand and sipped from it gingerly. Even though it was a Saturday, he had the day off. Work was fast at Robo-Corp and they needed no help that day. His coffee was warm and it soothed his stress about the loose Mephiles.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Sonic rush out of his room, crashing against a wall because of his sheer speed. Shadow couldn't help but chuckle.

"What's the rush, Blue?" He asked, glancing at the frantic hedgehog roommate.
"What's the rush!? We are late for work!" He said, running to the kitchen to grab a quick bite before getting dressed. Shadow sighed.
"Relax. We have the day off." Sonic looked at him for a moment, a slice of bread in his mouth as he tried to pull up his overalls.

"We do?" He asked after he took the toast out of his mouth.
"Yeah? No need to rush." Shadow confirmed. Sonic nodded and returned to his room, only to reappear in grey sweat pants and a yellow shirt. He sat next to Shadow on the couch, starring at the empty wall in front of them.
"Well, since we have the day off... Wanna do something?" Sonic asked with a smile.

Shadow blushed a bit but hid it with his mug.
"I guess. Where do you have in mind?" Sonic thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers as an idea popped into his head.
"I know! The other day Tails and I went past this store and it had these really cool motorcycle helmets and jackets! I thought maybe you and I could go and get matching gear! Since we are often on that motorcycle of yours anyway." Sonic recommend. Shadow thought for a moment. Sure it would be a good idea and he was sure nothing bad could come from having matching outfits.

"Sure, why not?"
"Cool! Let's go then."

At the shop, Sonic dived into the jacket isle immediately. Shadow followed close behind, making sure sonic wouldn't pick out something too silly.
"How about these?" He pointed at a two different jackets. They were inverts of each other, one with black and blue, the other with black and red. Shadow looked at them for a moment, then walked away. Sonic frowned for a moment before he realized that Shadow had gone to get helmets. He returned with a blue helmet with black and a red helmet with black.
"To match." He clarified before looking away in slight embarrassment.

Sonic blushed a bit. He smiled and grabbed the jackets.
"It's settled then."

"Dude, I look sick!" Sonic said, looking at himself. He thought he looked great with the jacket and helmet. Shadow smiled under his helmet before getting on the motorcycle.
"Anywhere else you'd like to go to?"
"Hmm... Actually, do you know where Emerald street is?"
"Yeah?"
"Let's go there."
