Shadow turned the corner. Trees and houses came into view as they made it to Emerald street. They parked in front of a house, courtesy of Sonic's instructions. They got off the bike.
"Sonic, why are we here?" Shadow asked as he took off his helmet, looking at Sonic with a puzzled expression. As Sonic took off his own helmet, he explained.
"This is my mom's house. I wanted to introduce you to my family, since we are friends and all."
"Did you do that with Miles and Knuckles as well?"
"Yup. Now come on!" Sonic grabbed Shadows wrist and pulled him to the front steps of the home. The blue hedgehog knocked on the door and soon, a pink hedgehog opened the door. Her blue eyes looked at Sonic with happiness.

She turned and yelled into the house.
"MOM, MANIC. SONIC'S HERE." She turned back to meet again with a smiling Sonic and a terrified Shadow.
"Come in you two." She invited. Once inside, the two were hit with a wave of warmth and the smell of cinnamon. A purple hedgehog and a green hedgehog stood up from a dining table and approached Sonic, giving him a hug.
"Who's your friend, bro?" Asked the green hedgehog, nodding his head in Shadows direction. Sonic realized he had some introducing to do. He walked up to Shadow and put a hand on his shoulder, making the dark hedgehog blush a bit.

"Ok guys, this is Shadow. He is my friend and roommate from college!" Shadow waved and awkwardly smiled.
"Um... Hello." Sonia was the first to speak up and introduce herself, beating Manic to it to his dismay.

"My name is Sonia and I'm Sonic's older sister." She offered a hand for Shadow to shake which he took. Manic took his other hand and shook it too, making Shadow cross his arms in the process.
"And I'm Manic, Sonic's older brother." He said with a smile. Lastly, the purple woman approached Shadow after the siblings shook his hands.
"I'm Aleena, Sonic's mother. I'm so glad you're his friend." She offered a hand to shake which Shadow took as well. When the two finished, Sonic took his hand and shook it, introducing himself jokingly.
"And I'm Sonic. But you already know me."

Now Shadow had officially shaken hands with the whole Hedgehog family.

"Why don't you both stay for dinner?" Aleena offered. Sonic said he was surely going to stay as he wanted to spend some time with his family. He turned to Shadow who looked a bit nervous.
"Shadow, are you ok?"
"Me? Oh I'm splendid." His lie was so obvious it was almost embarrassing. Sonic frowned at him. His companion looked so tens and nervous it made him worry. Sonic turned to his family.
"We are both definitely going to stay for dinner, but we'd like to get some fresh air first. See you in a bit." They bid each other goodbye as the two college students left the cozy house.

"Shadow, what's wrong? You look so tens and nervous." Sonic said. His hands were on Shadow's shoulder and his gaze was rather serious. Shadow sighed.
"I--... Look, I'm just a bit nervous. I've never been at someone else's house, Sonic. Heck, I've never had friends before. This is all... Too new for me. I'm afraid I'll mess up." He said honestly. Sonic awed and hugged Shadow, making him burn up red like fireworks.
"You'll do fine. Now come, I wanna help out with dinner."

After they had dinner, they all decided to hang out before the college duo had to leave to return to their dorm. While Manic and Sonia were busy battling it out on a boxing game, Sonic and Shadow watched from the couch.
"Your family is nice." Shadow blurred out of nowhere. Sonic was surprised at the sudden comment but smiled soon after.
"Yeah, you could say that."
"You all have a lot in common. Friendly, approachable, kind, caring. The Hedgehogs are the definition of loving and lovable." Shadow said, speaking his mind without noticing. Sonic blushed at that and nervously looked the other way.

"You truly are a lucky one, Sonic."
"Y-yeah, I guess you're right, Shadow."
