Chapter 24: Ice cream!!

Birds sang out their usual tune in the early summer morning. The streets where quiet but not empty. People walked their pets on that sunny morning. Everything was so peaceful.

Shadow took full advantage of that by sleeping. His limbs were spread across his bed and his sheets were barely on him. Eventually though, someone came into the room. They mumbled something before going to wake up the sleeping hedgehog. Sonic shook the ebony hedgehog awake.
"Wake up Shadow! I've got some plans!"
"Later... I wanna sleep."
"You can sleep afterwards. Get dressed!" Shadow sat up on his bed and rubbed his eyes from the sleep that plagued them. Sonic smiled at the scene unfolding before him before he turned to leave the room.

Once he was fully awake, he got up from his bed and began to get dressed. A plaided white and orange shirt, jeans and red converse shoes made his simplistic yet summer themed outfit. After he placed a pair of sunglasses on his head and put on the Christmas gift from Sonic, he exited his room.
He hadn't noticed it before, but Sonic was already dressed in a white t-shirts with a sleeveless jean jacket over top, black jeans and, high tops and the red emerald around his neck.

"Took you long enough!" The azure hedgehog said as he crossed his arms. Shadow sighed in an apologetic way, which Sonic accepted.
"Tell me, what do you have planned, exactly?" Sonic smiled and walked up to Shadow, placing a hand on his shoulder. Their faces were pressed close together making them both blush.

Sonic stretched out his hand, making what he was about to say sound a lot cooler than it actually was.
"We are going to go and eat ice cream!"
"Seriously?" The ebony hedgehog pushed Sonic away from himself, a smile on his face. The blue one laughed and tried to explain himself to make his claim more reasonable.
"Hear me out! A new ice cream parlor opened a while ago and I just thought... Maybe we could go together? It would be a fun and relaxing thing to do on the first day of the break!" Shadow scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Sounds more like you're asking me out on a date."
"A-a date between friends! Then yeah... It's a d-date." The azure one stuttered out, averting his gaze. Shadow found the behavior strange, but didn't question it.

"Oh my Chaos!" Sonic complained as he let his head fall back. They'd been walking for thirty minutes straight.
"I miss your motorcycle sooo much!"
"If that psycho didn't destroy my bike, we'd have be there twenty five minutes ago." Sonic looked at his counterpart while cocking his brow.
"And you haven't gotten a new motorbike because...?"
"Because I am 'supposed to relax and not drive at high speeds around the city '. Also I haven't gotten my allowance, aka my payment so I'm kinda broke." He stated blankly. Sonic frowned a bit but it left as soon as a building came into view.

He gasped excitedly and grabbed Shadow's hand, dragging him in the direction of the parlor.
"Ice cream!" He yelled. They arrived at the window of the ice cream parlor.

"Hello and welcome to the Neo-parlor-ten! We serve only the freshest and most delicious ice cream. How may I serve you?" The parlor asked rather enthusiastically. Sonic was the first to respond with Shadow following suit.

"One chocolate ice cream please!"
"And one vanilla ice cream, please?"
Their responses were different in tone, one sounding more like a question.
"Coming right up!"

On their way to the dorms the two ate their ice creams. It was in a pretty big cone and had a cherry on top.
"Shadow, you have vanilla all over your muzzle!" Sonic laughed as he pointed out the fact. Shadow hummed in acknowledgement and tried to wipe it away. Sonic saw no progress was being done and offered to wipe the ice cream off instead. Reluctantly, Shadow agreed with the embarrassment raising as blush crept on to his face.

Sonic took Shadow's face in his free hand and wiped it off with his thumb effortlessly. A small smile appeared on his face.
