Sonadow: Coincidence

Chapter 32: New things, one after another!

That weekend the duo had to go to Robo-Corp to work. Obviously. Once they made it to Shadows office, Silver was awaiting them with an envelope. It was yellow so it was likely some random file.
"Silver, what are you doing here?" Shadow asked his older brother with a raised brow, meanwhile Sonic just greeted him. Silver greeted back and handed Shadow the envelope.
"It's from the government. They were impressed with what you guys had done, with Mephiles and all, so they sent in this letter to recruit you and some other of our employees to their team. See this as a sort of... Promotion, if you will."

Sliver shrugged and walked out of the room. Shadow opened the envelope and, indeed, it was from the government. It read about how Mephiles had been terrorizing the city with bombs and such, and the fact that the duo could cease him made them want to partner up with Robo-Corp for more than just robotics and other things.
"This is sick! That means we'll go on missions like the FBI or the CIA!" Sonic said in excitement. Shadow smiled. That would mean that he didn't have to do as much paperwork, and it would probably also give more breaks.

While working on some assignments that he put off, Shadow was surprised by a butt placing itself on his desk. To less of his surprise, it was the bat herself.
"Shadow, how're you holding up?"
"If you're not willing to get on with your point then please get off my desk. I have work to do." Rouge scoffed.
"Typical of you to say that. Anyhow, I was going to invite you and Sonic to a party for new years. Before you deny; your brother and father are hosting it thanks to my amazing convincing skills, so you better show up." She said, flashing a grin with sharp fangs. With equally sharp teeth, Shadow snarled before scoffing as well.

"Fine. If you so wish we will go." He exhaled finally to Rouge's delight.
"Great! I knew you'd comply! See you around." She gingerly hopped off the desk and walked out of the room, her clacking heels becoming quieter as time went on.

After the work day had ended for them, they went back to the dormitory. Sonic flopped on to the couch and breathed exhausted breath.
"By the way, Rouge is hosting a party at RC's. I'm not sure if you-" Shadow began as he sat down on the couch beside the young adult. Sonic was looking at him with wide eyes and they sparkled with something Shadow could not quite identify.
"For new years? I'm totally going. Are you?"
"I have no choice on this matter, Sonic. I'm going to have to go either way, even if it's only for me to be a supervisor."
"Then it's settled! We will go and have the night of the year! It'll be something like no other year we've spent!" Sonic said while fist bumping the air.

The hedgehogs had something special prepared for each other, and they didn't even know it.
