Chapter 28: A party? Sign me up!!

"Shadow? Shaaadooow?? Shaaaadz???" Sonic was poking at Shadow with a pencil. Shadow had been putting up with Sonic's constant and persistent annoying attitude for fifteen minutes before he finally caved in. He turned to Sonic with a twitching eye.
"What. Is it. That. You. Want?" He said slowly. Sonic smiled once he realized he had Shadow's attention turned to him and not on the boring homework.
"I wanna go on a walk!"
"What are you, a dog?" Shadow asked, turning back to his homework. Sonic pouted and crossed his arms, as he did so, he made the couch move.

"No. But I'm bored. Besides, we need to run some errands anyhow, so what better opportunity than now?" He reasoned. The dark hedgehog thought for a moment. Perhaps the walk could quench Sonic's thirst of going outside, plus then he could get dinner started sooner anyway. He sighed and stood up from the couch.
"Fine, you win. Get your coat, we are leaving."
"Yay!! Victory is sweet!" Sonic cheered as he jumped off the couch and raced to the door. He put on his brown coat and raced down the stairs.

"Come on, slowpoke! The store is waiting!" The emerald eyed hog yelled. Shadow laughed and yelled back.
"The store won't run away, Sonic!"

Outside, the duo was returning from the grocery store. Both had a bag in each hand as they spoke to each other about work, class and upcoming activities they could do. Suddenly, they heard the loud and quick paced steps of a running red echidna. Knuckles had ran up to them, but thankfully he did not tackle Sonic.
"Sonic! I know you love parties." He began and immediately, Sonic was intrigued.
"Go on."
"Since Halloween is close, I thought I could throw a party! You come in your costume, you dance and drink, then you leave! Simple, fun and loud. What do ya think?" Shadow rolled his eyes.

'A party? How boring. In all honesty, why would anyone go to something like that? Who knows what could go wrong.' He thought to himself.
"Sure! We are sure to pass by! When is it?"
"October 31st. It's a Thursday and we don't have school on Friday so it's a win."
"Nice. See you then Knuckles!" In a blur of red, the echidna disappeared.
"I'm sorry, 'we'!? Sonic..." Shadow sighed. Sonic smiled sympathetically at his counterpart and nudged his arm with his elbow.

"Come on, Shadz. It's just one party. What could go wrong?" He received a glare so sharp that he could have used it to cut through his spleen. It sent shivers up his spine but he ignored them, laughing it off.
"Sonic. I'm not a party person."
"You don't have to be! I'm sure that with me, nothing can go wrong. Just relax and we'll be fine, ok?" Sonic said. Shadow looked at him for a moment before signing again.
"Fine. But I'm not driving you to the hospital if you fall down the stairs."
"Boo! You're such a buzz kill!"
