"Where do we go now?" Cricket asked as she buzzed through the sky. Bumblebee was wrapped tightly to her chest, and she had clasped her talon over the baby dragonet's snout to stop her from breathing in the smoke.
"The Poison Jungle," Sundew replied.
"The place with loads of venomous plants and dangerous animals?" Jasmin squinted into the distance, seeing the faraway forest of wild green leaves. "Cool."
"There are many dangerous things to avoid," Sundew warned. "And almost everything will eat you, poison you, or kill you."
"Why are we going to this place again?" Swordtail asked wryly.
"Because it's my home," Sundew answered. "And the only place where you'll be safe.
They landed in front of the towering trees that were covered in vine. Jasmin wrinkled her nose at the muddy, rotten smell.
"This place stinks," She commented as they walked into the thick forest. "Kind of reminds of the rainforest. Just more muddy and rotten-smelling."
"The rainforest must be beautiful," Blue breathed.
"I guess." Jasmin peered at the strange-looking plants around them. "There are sloths and toucans and lots of fruits. Fruits are all right, but those toucans can be tough."
"Oh...do they attack dragons?" Cricket asked.
"No. I meant that they're very chewy and there isn't enough meat on them to scrape up a meal," Jasmin grinned at Blue and Swordtail's expressions. "The trees in the rainforest are a lot...prettier than this place, though. And there's a lot more sun. The screaming monkeys are cool. Did you know that RainWings keep sloths as pets?"
"Really?" Cricket gasped. "Do you have a pet?"
"Used to," Jasmin thought of her sloth, who had silver fur that was as dark as holly bark. She'd named him Crescent, after the curved slash of white on his chest. "He got eaten by a NightWing. On accident. That dragon probably will never forget the scars on his wings. I have another pet, though."
Jasmin had never told anyone about her secret pet, not even Jerboa or Euphoria or anyone else. Not even Queen Glory or Deathbringer.
"What is it?" Blue asked. "A monkey? A bird? Some kind of fish? A rock?"
"Rocks?" Jasmin snorted at the thought. "Who'd have a pet rock?"
But she was amused by his random guesses, nothing close to the animal her 'pet' was.
Because Eclipse was an ocelot.
