"Go away!" Mandrake yelped as the panther lunged at his tail. He shut his eyes even tighter and slowed down, taking a deep breath.

"What in all of Pyrrhia is he doing?" Jasmin snapped. "Never shut your eyes when being chased down by a hungry carnivore! That idiot!"

"I know." Sundew closed her eyes, and a second later, a huge thorn bush erupted out of the ground under the panther. Huge thorns pierced the panther's skin, and it let out a howl of pain.

"Did...did I just do that?" Mandrake opened one eye.

"Son! You did it!" Wolfsbane, the oldest out of the three, let out a cheer.

"I don't believe it." Nettle blinked. "It has to be Sundew. Sundew! I know you're here."

Sundew remained silent, which Jasmin knew was a good choice. Unfortunately, Bumblebee wasn't as wise.

"SNUDOOOOOOO!!!!!" The baby HiveWing's loud wail pierced Jasmin's ears. She winced inwardly. "EEEEEEPOWWW!"

"Alright! Sundew! Come out this instant!" Nettle snapped. Sundew sighed before emerging from behind the bushes. Jasmin heard her call, "Come on, Swordtail, Blue. Get out of that tree."

The two SilkWings scrambled down the tree, their wings spread and catching light. The three LeafWings stared at Blue, sucking in a breath. Jasmin guessed that they'd never seen such a bright color in their damp, muddy jungle.

"Cricket. You can come out now," Sundew turned to the bushes where Jasmin was hiding. "And you too, Jasmin."

Jasmin watched Cricket clamber down awkwardly, Bumblebee cheerfully wriggling in her harness.

"You brought HiveWings into the jungle?" Nettle shrieked. "Belladonna will hear about this! Just because you're her daughter doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want, least of all bringing Wasp into our home!"

"They can't be controlled, you frog-face," Sundew snapped with impatience. "And Jasmin, just come out now."

Jasmin slipped silently out of the bushes, careful not to brush against the spiky seeds that clung onto the leaves. Wolfsbane let out a stifled gasp when he saw her wings and color.

"She- her wings-" He stammered. "She's not a SilkWings?"

"Yes," Sundew sighed. "Wolfsbane, Mandrake, Nettle, these are my friends. They need a safe place, so I brought them here, away from the HiveWings."
