"Get out of here!" Jasmin yelled at the frightened LeafWing. "Run as fast you can to your camp!"
The dragonet took an uncertain step forward.
"Go!" Jasmin plunged her tail-barb into the heart of one of the HiveWings, who had lunged for the LeafWing. "Don't make things harder for me!"
The LeafWing dragonet finally broke into a run, and vanished into the shadows. The HiveWing let out a scream of agony before falling onto the ground, blood spilling out of his mouth.
"A SilkWing..." One of the HiveWing hissed. "No." He corrected himself. "A dragonet from none of the tribes...how peculiar."
Jasmin slammed his head to the ground, and snapped his neck with a strong jerk. "Had enough?" She turned to the remaining three HiveWings, who were bleeding from a few scratches. "I know you're in there, Wasp."
"Follow the LeafWing." They headed where the dragonet had run. Jasmin intercepted them and threw one down to the ground. She stomped on the HiveWing's leg, and felt something crunch. She let out a shriek, and her eyes flickered to a hazel brown. Jasmin drew her knife and plunged it into her chest. She felt warm blood lick her scales before knocking the other two to the ground.
"More HiveWings are coming," They cackled. "And you'll die. Now follow the LeafWing."
The only way to protect the LeafWing dragonet is to get captured, Jasmin realized with a jolt. I need let them win. It's the only way.
Jasmin let the two HiveWings grab her by the arms, but she held onto her knife. She didn't want to lose it, after all. One of the HiveWings lashed her talon past her leg, and Jasmin winced as she felt blood gush out of the wound. The other slammed her head to the ground, and she felt her jaw hit the earth with a thud.
"Take me," Jasmin growled. "I'll get out sooner than you'll expect."
"You can try." Wasp laughed with cruel amusement. "But you'll need to get past the torture first."
