Jasmin inspected the jungle closely, noticing the dew-covered leaves and the occasional chitter of a bird, high above the reach of most predators.
Eclipse would have been able to catch that bird, Jasmin thought ruefully. She's built for this place.
"Eclipse would love this place." She murmured to herself.
"What?" Cricket turned to look at Jasmin. "Who's Eclipse?"
"Just someone in the rainforest," Jasmin said dismissively. "She'd love it here."
"Oh. What tribe is she from?" The HiveWing asked. Bumblebee let out a shrill squeak, pointing enthusiastically at the bird from her perch on Sundew's shoulders. The bird shrieked back.
"Tribe?" The hybrid grinned. "Oh, you don't need to know."
"Eclipse must be very important to you," Cricket glanced at Blue, who was stumbling on a tree root. "Does she like you, too?"
"I have no idea." Jasmin shrugged. "Eclipse doesn't speak Dragon. More like she doesn't speak at all."
"I've heard of some dragons that can't speak," Cricket said thoughtfully. "Ooh, I think they're called mute."
"Hm?" Jasmin realized that Cricket thought that the ocelot was a dragon. "Oh. Hey, you want to know a surprising fact?"
"What is it?"
"Eclipse isn't a dragon. She's my pet. Sort of."
"Oh!" The HiveWing smiled at the thought of the lithe species. She let out a little laugh, pushing her glasses up. "And I thought you were talking about a dragon you love."
"Ha!" Jasmin snorted at the thought. "As if! I prefer being alone, actually."
"We're here!" Sundew called. Jasmin finally noticed the barrier of vines. They gathered around an area that was wet and clear of any plants.
"Cover your eyes," The LeafWing called. She placed a talon over Bumblebee's eyes and closed her own. Jasmin stood perplexed.
"Why- ARRGHHH!" Swordtail was cut off as a heavy shower of water poured down on them. Jasmin quickly shut her eyes, letting the rain soak her wings. She shook them out to dry them.
"See these seeds?" Sundew nodded to the spiky balls that swirled away from the water. "I keep telling them to stay out of the way, but they never listen to me."
"But they can't just walk out of the way, right?" Jasmin said pointedly. "It's not like they can stay out. Seeds don't have legs, you know."
"Good point." Mandrake smiled, and led the way inside. "Come on. It's time for you to meet the LeafWings."
