"...Yes," Sundew looked up at the long branches of the tree. "I have leafspeak; that's a power that some LeafWings have. We can communicate with plants and make them grow faster and bigger. That sort of thing."
"Wow. That must be useful," Jasmin commented.
"That's how you blocked up the exit from the flamesilk cavern!" Cricket gasped. "And how you carried Swordtail all the way to the cave in Dragonfly Bay."
"Oooooh," Bumblebee cooed from her harness. She stretched out her tiny claws and burbled cheerfully towards Sundew's direction. "Eepow!"
"I think that she wants some food," Blue smiled. "Anything that's not poisonous around here?"
"Here. Eat this." Sundew picked a berry from a nearby bush and threw it at Cricket. The HiveWing caught it, and peered at it closely before handing it to Bumblebee.
"Gooble," Bumblebee laughed, stuffing her face, cheeks stained purple. "Prblebeeee."
"Let's go." Sundew shook out her leaf-shaped wings and walked onwards.
"Stop here," Sundew whispered. They'd went deep into the Poison Jungle, and halted when they'd heard voices.
"Who are they?" Jasmin asked. "Other LeafWings?"
"Yup. Everyone, get up this tree. Cricket, you go first."
The HiveWing clambered up the tree, followed closely by Blue. Swordtail clumsily crawled up the trunk. Jasmin looked back at the direction of the noise before letting the dark green and browns of the jungle wash over her and silently went over to Sundew.
Three LeafWings were there, behind the bushes. Two of them were looking disapprovingly at the other, who was chasing a panther.
Actually, it was more like the panther was chasing the scrawny dragonet that looked no older than Jasmin. He was throwing seeds at the hungry-looking panther while his eyes were tightly shut.
"Who are they?" She repeated softly. Sundew jumped slightly, the golden scales scattered on her body glimmering as they caught in the light.
"That's Nettle and Wolfsbane," The LeafWing murmured, pointing to the two grumpy dragons. "And that one who's being chased down by the panther is Mandrake."
"They look pretty unexperienced," Jasmin noticed. "The third especially. He looks pathetic."
"Compared to you, they are." Sundew's mouth twitched upwards ever so slightly. "And Mandrake...yes. He is pathetic. But Nettle and Wolfsbane have trained in the jungle for a long time to survive."
