After roaming all the territories of the indian continent, from Madra desh to Gandhar, from Sindhu to Dwarka-Saurashtra, the horse of Rajsuya yajna entered Manipur. The 'avijan' (peace endeavor) was at its last stage. But it evoked four different emotions from four different characters of our main story.
....Arjuna:
He was sitting uptight on his own horse-back. His charioteer was left by him behind. His giant bodied brother Bheem and nephew Brishaketu was in that. He was way ahead of them. He wanted to look at the scenario around him. His heart was fluttering inside his chest rapidly. He wanted greatly to control it in vain. He was expecting the unexpected. He knew it. He had been expecting to see her face once more. But he knew it by heart it was not so easy. She would not forgive him so easily. After all it was his own fault. He left her behind 20 yrs back and never came back to her. Draupadi's insult, lost of Indraprastha in 'dyut krira' (game of ludo), 12 yrs forest life and 1 yr life in exile at Matsya desh under Birat kingdom and then the fierce bloodythristy Kurukshetra war: none gave him permission to come back. He himself also was not ready then. He was young. He was foolish. He was arrogant. He was stubborn. He did not want to accept his fault. He thought he was doing justice. But he did not understand what was justice at all. He left her behind but her smile was hunting him in his memories. It was a bright sunny day today. Birds were singing. The atmosphere was quite soothing. Everyone around him was in good mood except him. Some gloominess was reigning in his mind. He was scared. Yes, he was petrified. He did not how to face Chitra. He did not know what to say her. How to console her? How to pursue her? How to beg for her mercy? Did she okay? She also did not inform anything since that day. How was she? No, she did not remarry. She could not. Did she have someone else to her to love or cherish??!! Ugghh, God!! How he hated the idea. His heart beat was increading just by thinking this.
His face got hot red when he realized his mistake. Till today he was crazy for her. He did not want to share her with anybody. He could not bear the thought simply. He could not be able to comprehend how he loved her so much??!!
He looked at the horizon expectantly. When would he got the chance to meet her??!! Chitra!! Where are you!!
....Brishaketu:
The air was soothing and touching his forehead. The flow of air on his face reminded him of his mother, Devi Padmavati who was scared to death to live him in this mission. She did not want him to join it. He was newly married and she wanted him to stay with his wife. But he was not a boy who would hide in his mother's lap or his wife's arm. He was great warrior Karna son. He needed to join this victory mission with his uncles. He wanted to be a part of it. Hence he also travelled with them for 1 yr. He was exhausted but proud for the sucess of their mission. His eldest uncle Yudhhisthir's dream of United India or Akhand Bharat was going to be successful very soon. Just Manipur was the last obstacle. After wining it, their dream would be accomplished and he would take rest only then.
His wife, Yuvi, was a strange girl. At first she was very angry with him. It needed much effort to make her smile to him. But she got defeated at the end and became his friend too. When he was coming at this mission he went straight to get her permission, he remembered the day perfectly. She hid her flustered face in her hands and when he asked her leave she all of a sudden whispered - "Go. We both will wait for you." What a strange girl?!! What did she meant by the word "both"??!! He wanted to fly back to her and wanted to tease her. He wanted to play with her hands. He wanted to lie in her arms. Restfully.
When he told his friend Megh about Yuvi's declaration, he suddenly got serious and declined to join him. He was a strange kid too. Even being a nephew in relation, he never wanted to call him uncle instead of friend. He at that time told Brishaketu -
"Congrats. You have done as expected. Now it's my turn, Mitra (friend). I am going to find a demoness to marry to continue my legacy."
He sighed hard. By looking at the two proud faces of uncle Bheem and uncle Arjuna, his heart ached for his father. Father, please believe in your son. He would definitely make you proud. He was thinking this in his mind and he was right. History would never forget brave Brishaketu. Never.
....Chitrangada:
She was restless and sleepless since yesterday. A messanger came to announce the arrival of Hastinapur army in their territory. Her father was delighted. He was so pleased and he wanted to welcome his son-in-law by himself. Giving a silly excuse to him was not an easy job. King Chitra Vahan was old and ailing but not unexperineced. A slight tremble in her voice or slight anger in her eyes would infuriate him. So she had to control herself. But she was unable to control herself. She had prepared her mind for the vital battle. But now when the proper time had already came, she was reluctant to leave her son. She was fearing for them both. Yes, she was fearing for him too.
She clutched her forhead in despair. Why should she think of him when he clearly did not think of her?!! Why did she fell in so desperately in love with a hypocrite like him??!! He never ever cared for her. He never loved her. He never respected her. He never trusted her. Then why??!! God, why she was still praying for his long life??!! Why on the earth??!! Why?!!
....Babrubahan:
He was preparing himself for the final battle. He had to go to Devi Kamkhaya temple to medidate before her for his upcoming sucess. He had promised his mother to defeat Arjuna, that arrogant Hastinapur prince who had done some wrong to her. His mother was his everything. His father. His mother. His all. He never wanted to spare a person who harmed her. He was going to Hastinapur to defeat him but he already came here. Good for him indeed.
He was thinking this when his lover, Shoma (Shomshukla) entered the room and touched his feet. He broke from his thought with a jolt and by seeing her smiled a bit. Why she was here?!!
"Do you come back?!!" She asked him in teary eyes.
"I want to. But I can't promise you. I think you should not wait for me." He slowly replied with pain.
"But why??!!" The young girl asked again.
"Because I never underestimate my opponent, Shoma. Arjuna is great foe. To defeat him is not so easy. If I win over him, I will definitely come back to you. And not, then I will surely meet you in heaven." He smiled at her.
She lifted her moisted eyes to him and gave a box to him. He opened it. It was his mother's vermillion box. He was taken aback to see this to her.
She stretched her hands to him and demanded "Put this sindoor on me (vermillon). I want to be your wife."
"But, if I never come back then you will become a widow!! No. Never." He turned his face to hid his tears from her.
She proudly poured vermillion on her forehead by saying "Then I will go Sati with your pyre."
He with a jolt looked back at her. Her deremination broke his self-restraint. He took her in his arms and kissed her feverishly.
In a far corner, his mother was seeing this emotional scene. Her eyes were moiste too. They both came and knelt before her. She blessed this newly weds.
"Mother, give me the blessings of sucess." Babru asked his mother.
Chitra with a small smile answred him "Bijoyi Vab (be sucessful)."
Her despair did not go unnoticed to his eyes. He did not comprehend the reason. It was her dream then why she looked so pale now?!! He got rid of any negative thought for his mother and touched her feet again.
"You promised me to tell my father's name after the battle. Do you ever remember that?!!" He asked her.
Chitra closed her eyes tightly to control her beating heart and to tell her only son -
"I promise. I will let you meet him personally."
He touched her footdust in his head and went away. His mother's closed eyes were now flooding with water.
