"I don't have any objection in your union with my daughter. I always aspired her to be wedded in 'Chandra Vansha' ('Bharat Vansha'). I only have a desire in heart. Before her there was no girl in our family. I got a boon to have her and nurture her as my Son ('Putrika') by Lord Shiva himself. But I have a desire, O great Partha. Kindly give me a 'Nati' (grandson) who will be the heir of my dynasty after my death. If you agree on my terms that you will leave Chitra as soon as she carry your seed in her womb, I, King Chitravahan of Manipur, promise to give her hands in yours with utmost pleasure."

King Chitravahan finished his lecture and looked with interest at the young man sitting before him and looking pale. He smiled in mind. Sitting on the throne was not an easy job. He had to know the mind of his opponents in an instant, unless he would definitely fail to discover his allies from his foes.

     King of Manipur Chitra Vahan

The young man sitting before him was none other than the great archer and prodigy of archery. He was known as Drone 'shishya' (best pupil of Guru Dronacharya) and 'Kunti putra' (son of mother Kunti). He was the middle brother of Indrapasthya King Samrat Yuddhisthir and Bahubali Bhimsen. Yes you guessed right. He was none other than Mahavir Arjuna.

Arjuna looked pale. He was not a hot-tempered one like his middle brother, Bhimsen or Bheem. He was not very calm and patient like his adored elder brother, Yuddhisthir. But he was not a person to take a vow in an instant without thinking the side effects. His this quality helped him to gain the upadhi or title 'Sarva Srestha Dhanur-dhar' (greatest archer) in battlefields. His mastery in archery came after rigorous training sessions and reading the mind of his opponent in calm way. He was always a clear-minded and level-headed man. This vow will make an effect on the upcoming future, he understood that perfectly. But he felt helpless. Chitra's love made his hands tied with this.

        Arjuna (hero of the story)

He knew that this impeding marriage was how much necessary for the expansion of his newly build country named Indrapastha. Even his elder brother Yuddhisthir and his friend Lord Krishna would support him to take this vow. He sighed hard. If it was the will of Vasudeva, then who he was to contradict it!!

He stood up from his throne seat and took out his 'Gandiv dhanush' in his left hand to make another great vow or 'Bhism pratigya' after Pitamaha Bhisma -

"Hey Manipur King Chitravahan, I Dronacharya-Shishya and Kunti-Putro Arjuna, gave you my word of honor that I will leave my pregnant wife behind after receiving the news of her pregnancy."

King Chitravahan looked at Arjuna proudly. He was surely the deserving son-in-law of his. He welcomed him and hugged him tightly in chest. He ordered his ministers to prepare the lavish wedding ceremony of his only child, Princess Chitrangada. King Chitravahan even declare it aloud -

"Dhanyo ho Madhyam Pandav. (Hail Third Pandav.) You will get anything you want from your life. That's my boon to you."

Hi Guys,

This is my first historical fiction on Mahabharata. I felt the love and life story of Manipur Princess Devi Chitrangada really fascinating. Since my early childhood my grandma told me her stories and encouraged me to be independent like her. I really adore her. Hope you will enjoy her story too.

In  some pages there may remain some silly mistake like printing error or spelling mistake, but kindly ignore them if you like this story. My language is mainly Hindi and the English version is written beside it. Kindly vote for it too like you did in my story on childhood heartthrob Karna. You can say anything in the comments section. I hope you will understand that it was not my intention to create any disagreement between the main characters of my story. I blindly followed my grandma's story and a Hindi television serial of B. R. Chopra saheb's "Mahabharata Katha". I don't want to hurt the love and feelings of Arjuna fans. I just tried to write a story on him. That's all. My main intention was to write a story on Manipur Princess strong and independent Chitrangada. I am sorry if I hurt your emotions.
