"Mother give me a boon. I am going to a war where I may not return. Hey Devi mother (o mother goddess), give me a boon. Kindly give me a boon or ashwirbad."

Babrubahan was standing in one feet in front of Devi Kamakhya temple's statue of goddess. He was meditating since two days. He had not eaten or drank anything since then.

Suddenly an arrow with golden spear and gold-made head dropped on his hands

Suddenly an arrow with golden spear and gold-made head dropped on his hands. He opened his eyes. A jolt of happiness ran down his veins. He opened his eyes wider in surprise.

"Devi maa (mother godess), you have given me the boon. Thank you so very much." He bowed down in front of the Devi Kamakhya's statue. He bowed over and over.
....

"I got it mother. I got mother goddess Kamakhya's boon. See this arrow."

Babrubahan jumped in great joy like a small child. He seemed like a boy was playing with his favorite toy. He lifted her in his arms and then spinned her around.

Chitrangada laughed like a child too

Chitrangada laughed like a child too. This boy was such a child at heart!!!

"Leave me. Kindly let me down." She insisted him.

He with a big grin let her go. She took the arrow in her hands and examined it throughly. Then she returned it to him with a smirk. It was a strongest arrow clearly.

"Use it carefully only when it seems necessary. It can kill your foe at once."

She warned her only son.

"Okay mother. As you command." He bowed to her and once again lifted her in arms. To spin her once again.

She laughed aloud. This boy!! His own childhood never ended till now!!!
....

But the arrow was not at all given by the goddess Kamakhya. It was a boon to Babrubahan from mother Ganga.

That day mother Ganga tossed the water on her hands in anger. It took the form of a powerful arrow with golden spear, powerful blade and goldmade head and lower side. It was made of pure gold and could not be broken at all.

This arrow of mother Ganga was fatal to Arjuna and vital present for his son Babrubahan as it ultimately ended Arjuna's life at his hands.
...

Before embarking in a mission to this greatest war of his life Babrubahan went to take the permission of his grandfather King Chitra Vahan. His grandparents were then talking with each other.

"Priye (dear wife), I have got the news that son-in-law Arjuna had came here with the horse of Rajsuya Yajna. I think we should call for him to here."
He told him.

"Yes. We should. But it is upto your beloved daughter. I talked to her. She was not agreeing at all. I don't why. Since that day she never even talked about him. There is some hidden deep pain in her heart." Queen Vasundhara sighed hard.

Babrubahan rushed into the room. They stopped at once. They did not want to talk in front of him. Both of them had made a promise to their daughter.
...

"I will take the throne from you. But now I am on the way to paying my tribute to my mother, my mentor. It is my gurudakshina to her. Give me blessings. Both of you."

He bowed down and touched the feet of both of them. Both of them blessed him. But they did not know that why they were blessing him. They were blessing not only the success of their grandson Babrubahan but also the defeat and brutal killing of Arjuna, their son-in-law, whom they were planning to welcome just now.

"Bijoyi Vab (be sucessful). Be very sucessful in your mission, Beer balak (brave boy) Babrubahan." His grand-father blessed him.

They blessed wholeheartedly with the tears in their old and ailing eyes

They blessed wholeheartedly with the tears in their old and ailing eyes. The final battle was yet to begin. It was the story of several nights before the fatal Arjuna-Babrubahan battle.
