Allura decided to teach Lance Altean so that he could learn about her (used to be) planets creatures, he was excited to learn and she found him incredibly adorable especially with the tail wagging in excitement.
Since she's learned about his past and heritage it's made her think, think on how she looks at Galra but most importantly how Lance acted amongst his fellow Paladins and the people around him, she never found him doing anything harmful infact he only acted that way towards Galra, half his own race, for the better good. She's heard what he's been through and she's seen the scars, the painful old scars of something that should never be taken on a child much less anyone.
He was such a kind, shy, adorable boy who was also selfless for others. He tried to keep secrets to protect others that weren't himself, he wanted to take the consequences for others onto himself so that they would be okay, that they would live.
Lance from how he's been since she's met the boy, is one of the shyest people. He's adorable when flustered or embarrassed, he's smart when he feels it's right, he's kind when the atmosphere is just the right tick. He was everything that someone from something so horrible turned out to be. She admired him, she cared for him, she loved him as a little brother.
Lance smiled as the two where in the castles library, "so why are we in here? I thought we were gonna learn Altean" he said peeking over her shoulder where she swore she could hear a slight purr from the boy behind her.
"We are. Here is where I can teach up how to pronounce the words but also the books give you the pictures on what the creatures look like" she said through chuckles as his eyes lit up like a child who's earned an ice cream. She grabbed the book she was searching for before they both went over to one of the couches and took a seat where she placed the book down and opened it to a certain page, showing a creature with feathered wings, a large orange beak, and two antennas at the top of it's head. "What's this? It looks kinda weird, sorry" he said sheepishly but Allura smiled "it does come across that way when you first come in contact with it. This creature is called a Wāaregan (made it up) a feathered creature that is quite friendly to those it takes a liking too" he scrunched his nose hoping he pronounces it right "Wāargen? Did I say that right?" He asked she nodded "you did and on the first try too, I'm proud" he became flustered with the compliment and hid behind his hands making Allura giggle at him.
He was still not used to compliments but he was getting there just very slowly.
The two spent the next three Vargas in the library learning and teaching more about the creatures of Altea and Allura would admit, Lance was a natural quick learner. He pronounced each of the names correct on the first try but also loved each one he's seen in the pictures making her chuckle at the very fond recent memory.
She looked over to see Lance by Keith and Pidge came over sneakily pulling her over to the others who were gathered near Coran's console "the suspense between those two is killing me, we need to give them a push in confessing" Pidge said with a low voice so Lance couldn't catch it sneaking a few glances behind her to see Lance talking excitingly to Keith who was responding to each of Lance's excitement with a few smiles. She turned her attention back to the others "well we can't force them to confess. There must be something we could do, does anyone have suggestions?" Hunk asked with the same tone Pidge did occasionally making sure the other two didn't hear "hm, I'm sure we have a room in the castle we could put them in for a few Vargas until they confess. It's not harmful and we could monitor them every few Vargas we leave then in there" Coran said "that's actually a good idea" Shiro did a smile and glanced to the pair who were still quietly chatting and Shiro could even seen Lance beaming with excitement and he caught a few lines of Altean and animals.
"Then it's settled, Coran, you find the room, we will need to decide who will go put them in the room tomorrow but for now everyone of us will need to keep this absolutely secret. That goes for Hunk" Hunk gave an offended look at Allura "hey I'll keep quiet" Pidge shushed Hunk quickly glancing at the pair who were still completely unaware of the Quiet meeting involving them at the moment.
"Alright, meeting ajured" Shiro said and they parted with Pidge and Hunk going back to the two and joining the conversation.
