Chapter 54 Jasmines Thoughts

It had been several days since my sister had saved Peters life. Her powers had always taken a lot of energy from her. The last time she had saved someone's life she was out for a week.

She lay tucked in my bed. The guards had helped me carry her in here and I hadn't left her side ever since. She looked so pale. Clearly Jaxon hadn't been feeding her, which didn't shock me. The important thing was we were together and free.

A knock at the door didn't make me take my eyes off of her. I was too afraid I would miss her waking up.

"Jasmine ?" Queen Thea's soft voice came from behind me. "I brought you something to eat."

"I'm not hungry thank you." I sighed.

"Jasmine it's been a few days...you really need to eat something." Queen Thea said, concern in her voice.

"It's been months since I've seen her...even when we were together they kept us in separate chains and cages...I am afraid if I blink she will be gone." I sighed.

"I have placed extra guards on this wing just for you. I assure you, you are safe. Your free." Queen Thea stated.

"I came here to harm you....I caused harm to some of your staff members...why are you being so nice to me?" I said looking at her for the first time since she had walked in the room.

She sat the tray of food down on my table and crossed the room to sit next to me. "I know what it's like to be in a cage...to do what you have to do to survive....I would never condemn you for doing what you had to do to see another day."
Tears streamed down my face at her words. We had never been shown such kindness. Nor had we ever had a family...this felt pretty close to what that might feel like. "You and your sister are welcome to stay as Long as you like. You can come and go as you please. I'll make sure everything you need is provided for....thank you for saving Peter."

I looked at her for a long moment recalling the vibe I felt between the two. "You care for him...and he you....you have a strong sexual bond."

Her face grew red. "You can tell that...with your gift ?"

"It's a curse not a gift..." I corrected her with how I really felt. "But yes....I have never felt the vibration before between you two....some may even say it's true love. I think that's why Peter resisted my powers when he ran from you."

Queen Thea's eyes grew wide. "That was you ? Those weird feelings that day... you were trying too...to what ? Make us kiss?"

"I was trying to help you realize your feelings for one another." I shrugged. "But he resisted...I have never had that happen to me."

"And you think.....he and I....are a match?" She glanced down as if ashamed of something.

"I could have been wrong." I replied. She had done so much for me I didn't want to upset her especially in her state. "My powers are very limited....sexual tension..it can be complicated."

"Thank you..." she said just abound a whisper. "For telling me." 

"Thank you...for everything you've done for my sister and I." I glanced back to my sleeping sister. "I wasn't lying when I said we've never had family...or a home."

"What happened. To your parents ?" Thea asked awkwardly.

I breathed out heavily unsure how much I wanted to tell her but also realizing there was no need to hide the truth anymore. "My mother....when she found out about us...about what we could do...she called us the devil. She said we were bringing Satan himself in her home and we clearly had been denied by God....she kicked us out. I was only 6 and Jade was only 4....it was rough for a while...but we always had each other."

Thea crossed the room and took my hand. "I am so sorry you two did not deserve it....I don't think you are of satan....I think that God just...gave you a little extra." She laughed. I laughed too. "Like I said you are always welcome here. I will never throw you out."

"Thank you." I squeezed her hand.

"But you do need to eat." She said letting go and walking to pick up a plate. "I promise, Jade won't disappear whilst you eat."

I nodded. Standing I crossed the room and enjoyed a nice meal with an even nicer Queen.
