Desperate Rescue

Ari and Eren looked at the flares that grew ever closer with smiles, Reiner had the opposite reaction.

Reiner: Tch, damn. We are leaving now.

They both went over to their three captives. Ari would jump, transform, and run to the column if he could but his legs hadn't fully healed yet so he couldn't and neither could Eren, only Ymir was fully healed enough to transform.

Bertholdt: Reiner, what do we do? There's three of them and two of us.

Ari: You could always lay down and surrender. They would be lenient with you after all you did, don't you think?

Reiner: Shut up, I'm not dealing with you right now.

Ymir: I could-

Reiner: Absolutely not.

Ymir: I'm sorry, did you have a better idea?

Reiner: You expect me to believe you're on our side?

Ymir: Ha! No, I'd never want to side with you on anything. But I do want to repay the favor your friend gave me all those years ago.

Ari: Ymir, you can't be serious! Who knows what they will do to us.

The flares grew ever closer, Reiner knew their time was now seriously running out.

Reiner: You're seriously willing to help?

Ymir: All I care about is Historia, if it means I can pay you back in the meantime then why the hell not?

Ari could not believe it, Ymir was really gonna help them. Meanwhile Eren got choked out and was now on Bertholdt's back. Ari couldn't run away, and if he stayed there he couldn't fight so he was left with basically no choice. Ymir transformed and Ari climbed on her back and gripped her hair for stability.

Jaw: You good?

Ari: Yeah I- Woah!

Reiner: Hey!

Ymir leaped forward without warning and immediately carried Ari right in the direction of the fast approaching soldiers. She swooped from tree to tree getting closer to the edge of the forest as Ari held on for dear life. Reiner and Bertholdt knew there was no way they were catching her. She hit the edge of the forest as the Scouts switched to their ODM gear.

Erwin: Titan approaching fast!

Historia: Wait! It's Ymir! She's an ally!

Erwin nodded and they continued on. Historia and Mikasa zipped right to Ymir's tree followed by Andrew and Connie.

Historia: Ymir! Where's Ari?!

Ari got on top of Ymir's hair and showed himself smiling wide. Historia was beyond happy as she zipped up to him and kissed him.

Andrew: Hey, love birds, we still have one more to get.

Connie: Ugly, where's our other titan?

Historia carried Ari on her back as she got off. Ari was surprised she was able to carry him, but she had gotten a lot stronger, especially since they first met. Ymir then led them across the forest to the other edge until they spotted Reiner.

Andrew: Shit, it's him!

Reiner jumped down and turned into the Armored titan, Ymir swung on his back as they made a break for it. The young Scouts couldn't chase him due to the forest ending. Mikasa saw Eren in Bertholdt's grasp, she wanted him back. Just then Erwin and Hannes passed right underneath them.

Erwin: Back on your horses! Get Eren and the retreat!

They all obeyed immediately. This time Mikasa was at the head of the formation. Ari was on the back of Historia's horse as they chased Reiner with all the speed they had but no matter what they couldn't get to him. Erwin saw this and peeled off and left Hannes in charge. Hannes had ordered Mikasa back behind him but she did not obey him.
