Everyone was on a cliff and watched the Military Police burst into the cabin with guns drawn, they had left just in time.

Connie: Wow, if we hadn't left right then, what would've happened to us?

Ari: Don't think about that Connie, think about what we are gonna do since we did leave.

Andrew: Yeah, what are we gonna do?

Armin: Buy why? What would make Commander Erwin...?

Levi: New orders came from the government. There's been a freeze on all Scout regiment activity outside the wall. They're telling us to hand over Ari and Historia.

Nifa: By the way, right after he gave me the message...the Military Police came for him.

Hange: That's treating him like some sort of criminal!

Levi: Someone's not working from the shadows anymore. They're moving for all eyes to see.

Hange: To go that far to protect the wall's secrets...What's more, why do they want us to hand over Ari and Historia? Not to kill, but for them to obtain?

Levi: Who knows? Anyways, it's clear the enemy is after these two. Loitering around here is dangerous. We're moving her and Ari to Trost district.

Katelynn: Why? That's the same place Pastor Nick was killed.

Levi: It's worse to head towards the interior. With Trost in a panic, it should be easy to slip in. And if somehow it comes down to it, we can use these in the city.

Levi pulled back his cloak and revealed his ODM gear. Everyone else had them as well, they had all made sure to grab them before they left.

Levi: Plus, not knowing the enemy puts us in a tough spot.

Ari: I might know something about that.

Historia nodded at him, once again this was only something she knew about. Ari knew there was only one person who could mobilize this effort, a royal, the last one. Ari had kept this from everyone apart from Historia, he didn't want to tell everyone how he killed the royal family.

Hange: Who do you think it is, Ari?

Ari: I can't be certain but based on what I've seen Rod Reiss is the one you should investigate.

Everyone was surprised, they of course instantly recognised the last name. All eyes landed on Historia who shared the last name. But before anyone could ask any questions Hange stepped in.

Hange: Thanks, Ari, I'll get on that. Levi, let me take Andrew and Katelynn from you.

Levi: Alright, let me take some of your squad then. Nifa and Abel.

They both agreed and swapped some people. Andrew and Katelynn were curious as to why Hange specifically asked for them but there wasn't time for question. Hange said she was going after Erwin and she was gonna investigate Rod. But before she left Eren handed her a piece of paper and told her that he remembered a conversation between Ymir and Reiner. Then Levi and the rest got going, but as everyone else got on their horse Levi pulled Ari and Historia aside.

Ari: What is it, Captain?

Levi: I won't ask how you knew to investigate Rod Reiss, I guess you'll tell us at some point. But listen, if it comes down to it you are to prioritize your life and Historia's life above all others, including my own.

Ari and Historia were deeply troubled by this, ever since he was a child he had been taught to protect everyone. Now he was being told to disregard that and let others die if it meant he and Historia live.
