5 months had gone by since their scouting mission and a lot of work had been done since then and a few things had changed. First and the most important to Ari was that Historia had successfully gotten pregnant again and was now carrying their next child. Ari was so overjoyed when the doctor confirmed it to both of them, their attempt to conceive before Ari left on the Scouting mission was successful. Talia was also very happy at the news when they told her a day after the two found out themselves.
Flashback to when Ari and Historia told Talia
When Ari and Historia sat Talia down to tell her the news she was overjoyed.
Ari: Talia, we have some news for you. You remember how that doctor was here yesterday?
Talia: Yeah, are you two ok?
Historia: We are just fine, sweetie. But we do have some news, I am pregnant. And in about 9 or so months you will be an older sister.
Talia jumped to her feet and rushed to hug her parents, smiles were on all of their faces.
Talia: Really!? I'm so excited! Mommy, will you make it a boy? I want a little brother reeeeeeeeeeeeeally bad!!
Historia and Ari laughed a little.
Historia: I'll do my best, Talia. I can't exactly control that. But...it does feel like a boy.
Ari: You may be in luck, Talia. Your mom was right last time when it came to guessing the gender.
Talia: Yay!!
Back to present day
Historia being pregnant was not the only thing that happened in that time. Ari and Hange worked tirelessly together and proved Ari's theory of being able to create propulsion using piston power and then using that to power an airplane as they called it. When it was all finished Ari and Hange named their plane the Freedom. Ari also was in the process of developing a few smaller single engine planes but they were currently taking a backseat as Ari trained everyone on the ins and outs of the Freedom. Ari was one of a few people who were qualified to actually pilot the thing.

Notably Armin proved himself to be the best of the bunch when it came to flying, Mike proved to be second best so the two were paired up. Ari also designed the plane so that it would be capable of carrying bombs, however he thought that they would need a lot more of them in order to achieve a good level of destruction. They also copied a bit of Marlien technology called a parachute that could be used to deploy people directly from the plane even if it was flying.
Ari had also developed a very quick extraction method using the plane. It was based on his own experience when he was captured by Reiner and Bertholdt. The main thing for Ari was that he wanted to use the Freedom to return to Marley for a stealth operation. Despite all their progress, they were still well behind Marley itself and still relied heavily on the fact that Marley did not know of their resurgence. It also helped that Marley had gotten involved in a large war so was currently very busy, but everyone knew it would not last forever.
