5 years had gone by and all 4 of them had decided to join the cadets. Eren's resolve to join the Scouts had only strengthened after what happened, and he didn't remember eating his dad at all.
Ari, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin and all the other recruits stood in rows in their brand new uniforms. They were in a courtyard of the training complex, this place would be their home for the next few years.
One man stood much taller than any of them, and good god, he was as scary and intimidating as a titan, if not even more so. No one dared step out of line, move a muscle, or even do so much as cough. Ari hesitated to even blink or move his eyes.
Shadis: BACKS STRAIT YOU WORMS!
Everyone already had great posture, but due to their fear each of them straightened their spine just a little. Shadis walked down the line, everyone praying in their head he didn't pick them out.
Shadis: I AM INSTRUCTOR SHADIS! FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS I WILL MOLD YOU MISERABLE PIECES OF FILTH INTO GOOD SOLDIERS! ANYONE WHO ISN'T UP TO THE TASK FOR EVEN A SECOND WILL BE SENT TO PLOW THE FIELDS! I WILL BE WORKING ALL OF YOU DOWN TO THE BONE SO GET READY TO GO THROUGH HELL AND DON'T EXPECT ANY HELP FROM ME!
Shadis was about to walk right past Ari, his heart skipped a beat as he heard his instructor yell that could frighten a demon.
Shadis: You! What a pathetic excuse for a cadet you make! you look like nothing but titan chow right now! What's your name?!
Thankfully he wasn't talking to Ari, but he was talking to Armin. Armin slammed his fist over his chest and stood up straight.
Armin: Armin Arlert, sir! From Shiganshina!
Shadis: Armin!? How much did your parents hate you to give you such a terrible name?!
Armin: It was my grandfather, sir!
Shadis: Well then you ought to be thankful to him for taking the time to even bother naming titan food!
Shadis then moved on leaving Armin to take a huge but silent sigh of relief.
Ari glanced right and saw a girl he swore looked familiar, Annie Leonhart. He wasn't quite sure where he had seen her before, he just felt like he had. One thing knew about her though was that she was tough as nails, he'd never seen her in a fight or anything, he could tell just by looking at her.
Not wanting to risk making eye contact with her he looked away and scanned the other cadets that were in his line of sight. There was one in particular that caught his eye, Christa Lenz.
Ari's thoughts: She's so short, easily the shortest one here. She's also really cute, and her voice when she spoke earlier was angelic. Maybe I'll try and get close to her.
Shadis: And who might you be, welp!?
Ari heard another recruit slam their hand on their chest and then yell with a little terror in their voice.
