Ari woke up from bed, once again about an hour before everyone else. However this time he wasn't indifferent or mad about it, he was very happy. A smile crept across his face, he knew that it would be just him and Christa at the mess alone for an hour and Ari was so excited. As quiet as a mouse he got on new clothes, socks, and shoes then he left the dorm like he was shot out of a cannon. He got to the mess and it was empty, but he didn't worry, he knew he was likely to get there first. So he grabbed his breakfast tray and water and sat down and waited.

And lo and behold Christa walked in the door a mere 15 minutes later. When they both saw each other smiles crept across their faces.

Christa: Good morning, Ari

Ari: Good morning, Christa.

Christa walked over and got her breakfast tray and sat down right next to Ari, shoulder to shoulder once again. Christa first notices that Ari hasn't even touched his meal despite the fact he'd had it for a while.

Christa: Is everything ok? You haven't even touched your food.

Ari: Everythings great, I just wanted to wait for you to start eating.

Christa smiled and leaned against Ari a little.

Christa: You're so sweet, Ari.

And with that the two began to eat up together. As they both got close to finishing Christa could see something was bothering him.

Christa: Ari? Is something bothering you?

Ari:*sigh* Yeah, it's just.....it's Eren. I still haven't been able to figure out why he can't pass the test. And he's my friend. I mean we've known each other since we were born. I've always been there for him and he's always been there for me. So I....

Christa took one of Ari's hands, she held it in her soft warm hand and rubbed the back of it with her thumb.

Christa: I see. So that's why you've been pushing yourself.

Ari nodded and took a bite of his bread and tried to think.

Ari: And no matter how much I think about it, I just can't seem to figure it out.

Christa: Well, I'm no good at engineering really. But one thing I can recommend is for you to try and look at it from a different angle. I know that doesn't really help but.....You've just seen it from the front and the back. What about the top and bottom?

Ari's thoughts: Top to bottom, huh. Could it be the wheels the cables are on that are attached to the wooden beams? Or maybe.....THE BELT! that would explain all the shakiness! And it would certainly explain why he can't stay up for more than a moment and he flips upside down!

Ari: Yes! That's it! It's the belt! Christa, you're a genius!

Ari immediately wrapped Christa in a huge bear hug. Unlike last time Ari didn't regret this one at all and neither did Christa as she hugged him back. They both enjoyed each other's embrace for a moment and then they got back to their meals.

A little later everyone was back in uniform to watch Eren give the ODM gear test one last go. Ari hadn't told anyone yet, he wasn't quite sure how to approach this. So he decided to wait, he needed to at least have Eren fail one more time to have pretext to check it. Otherwise Shadis could yell him into oblivion.

Shadis: Cadet Yeager, Are you ready?!

Eren: Y-yes, sir!

Shadis gave Thomas the nod and soon Eren left the ground. If Ari was correct, and he was certain that he was, then Eren should fall almost immediately. But amazingly that didn't happen. Ari's eyes widened and his mouth fell open a little as Eren stayed upright and actually maintained his balance. The crowd started to cheer as he was actually doing it.
