TW: the Confederacy, burning, mentions of the Fall of Vicksburg, blood and gore, and as always, a ton of swears.
I DON'T support the Confederacy, but not the actions Ohio did in this chapter either.

"Y'know, if we couldn't fight off Valeria, we could always aim for someone else."

"Aim for who?"

"Massiah."
-----
Mississippi was running. Behind him was the city of Jackson, which had become a wasteland. Buildings? Exploded. Lives? Taken away. The city representative of his capital had told him that Vicksburg needed help, even though he was severely injured as well.

"I saw Columbus. The one from Ohio I mean. I don't know what he was planning, but his face... the smirk... Shit's gonna go down." The vitiligo boy reported, his head bleeding from being thrown into a wall. Mississippi only nodded his head and started running towards Vicksburg. Before he left for the city, he muttered, "Go find Louisiana and take shelter there. It should be safer than staying here." Jackson only nodded his head and took off.

Watching his capital flee, Mississippi sighed out of frustration before whispering to himself, running towards Vicksburg, "I swear to Jesus, don't hurt Vicksburg. Anyone, ANYONE but Vicksburg. He's the only one I had-" Mississippi muttered to himself when someone stood in front of him.
It was, of course, Ohio.

"Ohio." The state glared at the other.

"Hi Sippi. Great to see you literally trying to reach death." Ohio smiled genuinely while stepping away, behind him was Columbus tying up Vicksburg. Mississippi then pushed the northern state away and ran towards Vicksburg, taking note of the situation. Columbus had just finished tying him up and made way for the state. "You tied him up? Why?! He's just a child, he did nothing wrong-" "Massiah, he's literally your base of the Confederacy. It wouldn't make sense if I don't teach you a lesson using him." Ohio replied, watching the other kneel down in front of the poor, tied up boy, trying to untie the knot. He then smiled in a psychopathic way. Looking at the two suffering, he took out a lighter. "Set them on fire." He ordered and threw the lighter at Columbus. The Ohioan capital then caught it and set the ropes on fire.

"Dad... the fire...!" Vicksburg cried into the southern state's shoulder as the fire started to spread. Soon the fire burned the both of them.

Mississippi only hugged him tightly in response. With the intense pain on his left shoulder and the sobs coming from the city, he couldn't do anything but endure it, glaring at Ohio before he shouted, "You sick fuck... Fine! I surrender! That's all you want, right?! There you have it then!" Ohio stared at the other before looking away from him, checking the date and time as he smiled again.

"Hey Massiah, guess what date it is today!"
"What? It's the 4th July, why?"

The northern state's face let out a grin as the southern state realised the meaning behind this.

"What a good day to celebrate our National Day, right Massiah?"
-----
The southern state was then sent to the North, with Maryland and Massachusetts tending to his wounds.

The wound treating process didn't go smoothly as he avoided physical contact from the other two.

"Massiah? What happened back there?" Maryland asked, with Mass gently drenching the burn with cold water with a faucet. Mississippi was not in the mood to talk, but he still tried to maintain eye contact with her. She sighed, "You know Ohio is always a bit fucked up in the head... It was still necessary to quickly end the war-" "Vicksburg's just a child." With her words being cut off, both Northern States were caught off guard and hoped to hear it again. "I said, Vicksburg's just a child," Mississippi repeated in a sadder tone. "If Ohio believed that burning a child helps with ending a war, then he's very fucked up in the head."

Massachusetts nodded in agreement as Maryland stared in concern.
She heard that Ohio's planning to aim for three other cities next, namely Savannah, Charleston and Richmond.

"...I'm gonna have to hold your hand when I tell you this." She said softly, reaching for his hands. Mississippi quickly flinched and pulled away. "Tell me for what? I surrendered, I won't be able to tell them, even if I tried."

Fireworks could be heard exploding all of a sudden, reminding the 3 of them that today was July 4th again.

"Happy July 4th, you two." Sippi smiled sadly, only receiving two concerned looks from the others. "What? I'll move on from this, don't worry."
