It was early evening. Kenny had spent his time after school with Karen, making sure her homework was done for the next day. He had then watched as she played with her doll for a bit then fed her before putting her to bed. He then got himself ready to face the night as his alter ego, Mysterion.

After suiting up and hopping out of his window, Mysterion leapt through the brisk air of Colorado. He scanned the sky for any signs of criminal activity and on finding little to none in the streets, he flew his way over to Pip's abode.

On reaching the laundrette, the building to the left of the alley, Mysterion skidded to a stop on the edge of the roof and peeked into the dark cavern. Sure enough Pip was sitting on the floor below, feeling a little sorry for himself. The Brit noticed the shadow being cast down into the moonlit snow and looked up to find the cloaked figure. Their eyes met and Pip gave him a little wave, signalling it was okay for him to come down. Mysterion slid down the drain pipe and hopped off at the bottom.

"Good evening!" Pip beamed, going to stand up.

Mysterion gestured for him to stay put. "Hi. You okay?"

Pip tried hard not to wince as he settled his aching arm back down in his lap. "Yes thanks! Are you?"

"I'm good, thanks." Mysterion replied, noting the awkward way in which Pip seemed to be sitting. He looked uncomfortable. "Hey, do you need a chair or something?" he asked, taking in the blonde's pained expression. "You look kinda..."

Pip adamantly shook his head. "N-No! It's okay! I- ow!" Pip grabbed his arm. He laughed nervously.

Mysterion frowned and crouched beside him. "You're hurt."

"No I'm not."

"Pip..."

"It's not- I'm not-"

"Pip."

Pip shied away a little. The hero stared intently. "Did they get you again?"

"I... just... tripped over? I'm ever so clumsy." he rubbed his head.

"Pip, stop it. We both know they're hurting you."

"But-"

Mysterion placed two firm hands on his shoulders. "Pip, you don't have to lie to me any more. I actually care about your well-being. I'm here for you."

Pip's eyes met the floor. "But..."

"Pip," Mysterion reiterated, "I'm not going to laugh at you. Please tell me what happened."

Pip sighed in defeat, "O-Okay... well, I... some of them..." he started.

"Yes?" the hero encouraged.

He stopped, throwing his hands up to his face. A lot of doubts clouded his mind. "S-Sorry this is new to me!" he cried, fiddling with his blazer sleeves, "Nobody's ever wanted to know before. A-Are you sure you don't mind hearing this? You don't have to listen to me ramble."

"Of course I don't mind!" Mysterion asserted, "You can tell me anything, you know that, right?"

"Oh! I can? O-Okay! Um... W-Well, if you say so..." he smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his head. "Um, thank you?"

"No problem. So then, what did they do to you?"

Pip bit his lip and hugged himself timidly, "I-I don't want to say. You'll laugh at me."

Mysterion exhaled slowly, "I just said I wouldn't do that."

"Y-Yeah I know, but..." he clenched his fists, "People lie to me. All the time. I'm still- I-I'm not sure-"
