He couldn't believe it.

Pip hugged his knees tightly, trying desperately hard not to think about the incident at Wendy's house. He couldn't believe that he'd actually let his guard down like that. Being in her house had totally overwhelmed him. That was the bottom line. And to run out like that? Without even saying a proper goodbye?

Wendy would kill him tomorrow.

She's gonna tell... she's gonna tell everyone. I'm such an idiot, she didn't need this! If only I was normal! Why am I so bloody weird? Why? WHY? Why can't I be normal? I had one simple chance to not screw this up for someone and now? Now she thinks I'm an even bigger loser than ever!

He whimpered and buried his head in his knees, mimicking the same pose he was sat in during his panic attack. Pip was so caught up in his own thoughts that he missed the dark shadow fluttering down from the sky. Mysterion silently whipped through the air and landed in the snow, brushing off his cape as he stared down Pip.

After saving Wendy, Mysterion had done a bit of snooping and found out that Wendy had actually been trying to find Pip, who had run away from her house. So after stopping a robbery and beating up some drunks, Mysterion had doubled back to Pip's alley in hope that he would find him.

He totally hadn't expected the cowering figure that sat before him, though.

"You're a hard nut to track down, Brit." Mysterion announced, cape swooping behind him as he approached the shivering blonde teen. "Where have you been?"

Pip was startled by the hero's sudden appearance. He hadn't been expecting any more social encounters today and was too drained to deal with it. Pip bit his lip and felt his nerves bubbling in his stomach. He opened his mouth to say something and then closed it, wrapping his arms tighter around his legs.

"Hello? Earth to Brit?"

Pip refused to look him in the eye, "Y-You're talking to me."

Mysterion blinked, "Yes?"

"Y-You tried to find me..."

"Yes."

Pip seemed to be struggling to digest this information. Whatever confidence he'd previously had was shattered. He wasn't worth the hero's attention, yet the vigilante still appeared to be looking out for him, and that worried him. He couldn't talk to him. He wasn't worth it. Mysterion was better than that. He had to push him away, but how?

"I'm fine. You don't have to be here."

Mysterion didn't like this new dismissive attitude from Pip. "Look, it's my civic duty to help those in need. You're obviously in need so I'm here."

Pip could feel his insides crumbling. Nobody was ever there for him. Mysterion begged to differ. He bit his lip so hard he drew blood.

"Are you okay?"

"A-Are you okay?" Pip repeated, giving Mysterion a sorrowful look.

Mysterion scowled and punched the nearby garbage bin, the action making Pip jump. The Brit covered his head with his hands and couldn't help but whimper, knowing he was in for it now. His heart pounded in his chest.

"I-I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have to deal with me." he cried out.

The vigilante approached the shaking teen. He stopped and crouched before him, his body almost mirroring the Brit's pose. He stared deeply at the boy who was trying desperately hard not to look at him, Pip's eyes locked on the end of the alleyway. Mysterion sighed.

Pip flinched and closed his eyes.

A few minutes soon passed. Pip eventually shifted his gaze towards the superhero. "Y-You're still here..." came his broken voice.
