School was quiet without Pip.
Kenny strolled down the corridor with his hands shoved in his pockets, mind occupied on his British friend. He so desperately wanted to visit him in hospital but felt his presence would trigger traumatic flashbacks and freak him out more, so he was holding off for now.
"Kenny?"
Kenny stopped in his tracks, turning to see the beautiful noirette standing directly behind him. He turned to face her. "S'up, Wends?"
Wendy's face was tense. "I... I heard about Pip. Is he alright? Have you... spoken with him?"
"I haven't spoken with him but I know he's in the hospital." Kenny replied bluntly.
"Poor kid..." she sighed. "I was thinking about going to visit him but I didn't want to freak him out. He may think me insincere."
"I don't think he'd be too worried about that in his current position, but that would also make me a hypocrite." Kenny admitted, "I was thinking the same thing. I don't want to overwhelm him myself."
"We could... go together, if you wanted? Unless you had plans to go and see him in another identity."
Kenny froze for a moment. He had forgotten about Wendy's newly acquired knowledge. "Uh... I'd rather go alone, I think."
"I see." Wendy nodded in understanding.
"But I still think you should go and see him. You could say you're bringing him some school work."
Wendy exhaled softly. "I don't know, maybe..."
"What are you afraid of? Stan finding out?"
Wendy's head snapped up, a frown on her face. "Of course not! I'm more worried for Pip. I don't think he likes me and I don't want to scare him. I don't care about what Stan and the others think of me!"
Kenny raised an eyebrow. "What about us?"
The girl looked directly at him. "What about us?"
"Are you worried about Stan seeing us together?"
Wendy paused in thought. "If I am, I feel more worried for you. You're one of Stan's best friends, and if he ever found out about... well... you know, the thing that happened..."
"The kiss?"
Wendy went beet red. "Y-You didn't have to announce it to the whole world, you dick!"
"Sure I did." Kenny chuckled and shoved his hands deeper into his pockets. The bell went for their first class. "Well, you better get going, Miss Testaburger."
Wendy avoided his eyes, trying to regain her composure. "What about you?"
"I may or may not be skipping school." Kenny smirked, ducking into a tiny corridor leading to the fire exit, protected by a set of stairs which eclipsed it.
Wendy followed him into the dusky passage and as her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she found herself being pushed against the wall, a set of lips pressed against her own.
Wendy gripped Kenny's fluffy hood as she requited his actions. After a few moments she pulled away, shyly avoiding his eyes as she straightened out his collar. Kenny gently pushed her chin up to meet his gaze and they stared at one another for a few moments.
"Are you going to see Pip?"
"Yep."
"Good luck." she whispered, pulling away from his embrace. She found herself moving away from him, but her head turned back to watch him before he left.
