Kenny stiffly sat at the table, still staring at the door Pip had just left through. He was oddly feeling a little numb at his companion's sudden exit. He felt... responsible. Awful. Like a shitty friend.
He shook his head.
Mysterion was Pip's friend, not Kenny's, but admittedly those feelings were increasingly spilling over to Kenny's persona, making him want to spend time with the Brit and help him.
"Where's Pip gone?" came a disappointed voice from behind him. Kenny looked up to see a downtrodden Karen holding her favourite plushy doll.
"He had to go, sugar." he said, kicking himself up from his chair.
"Aww... but I wanted to show him dolly!"
Kenny patted her head. "I'm sure he'll be back to see you soon. Come on, we best get you to bed."
"But it's not bedtime!"
"It is now." he smirked, lifting her into his arms. She let out a little whine and hugged her doll tightly. Kenny carried her upstairs and into her room.
"Kenny?" she asked.
"Yeah?"
"Why did you help that boy?
"Because he needed helping, Karen."
"Then why did he leave so soon?"
"I think he's scared. He's not used to people being so nice to him because he gets bullied a lot."
"That's horrible!" she squealed. "He seemed like a really good person! Why would people bully him?"
"Kids are cruel, Karen. They don't need a reason."
"I know..." she sighed, burying her face in her brother's chest. "I just wish there was more good in the world."
"You and me both, sugar." he held her close and lowered her onto the bed. She crawled inside the thin blanket and hugged her dolly.
"Can you bring him back again soon?"
"If he'll let me, I will."
"Thanks Kenny." she murmured tiredly, falling back onto her pillow. "Night..."
"Goodnight." he closed the door behind him.
A dark mist poured over his eyes as his transformation into Mysterion began. He scuttled to his room and quickly pulled on his outfit, throwing up his hood. He sweeped down his cape and stepped into his window frame, looking out at the tranquillity of the night sky. Taking one last look behind him, he launched into the air, swinging his grappling hook to catch onto the nearest building. He did this again and again until he ended up deep within the heart of South Park, landing on top of the library. He settled on a coping and watched for danger.

Pip hurried along the cold street. The light winds brushed against him as he scampered towards his alley, wanting to make it back there without incident. He knew the drunkards and druggies would soon be out prowling the street, and Pip was an easy target to pick on. He started to break out in a sprint when he accidently bumped into a man dressed as a preacher. Pip bounced off the man and fell to the floor, squeaking an apology. The man just laughed and helped him to his feet, but wouldn't let go of him, taking in his appearance with a loving sigh.
"Where are you going in such a hurry, cutie?"
Not liking his suggestive tone, Pip struggled in his grip.
"Hey now, calm down, cutie." the man pulled Pip closer to him. "What might your name be?"
"L-Let me go please!" Pip squeaked, trying to pull away.
