It was a boring day at school.
Wendy let out a little sigh as she doodled a picture of Mysterion in her school book, trying to ignore the piercing gaze she could feel burning into the back of her head.
"Dude, quit staring at her!" she heard Kyle's hushed voice somewhere from behind her, along with Stan's lovelorn sigh. Wendy rolled her eyes and glanced over at Kenny to the side of her, who appeared lost in thought.
She knew exactly how he was feeling. She'd been lost in thought several times these past few days, as she'd been reflecting on her actions and about Pip and her time with Kenny. How she could do better. How she could help them and be a better person.
She found she couldn't even speak to Kenny now without feeling like she was being spied on by one of her girlfriends; particularly Red, who had always had a hidden soft spot for Kenny. But Red wasn't even the biggest issue here.
If Stan ever found out about what was going on between them...
"Hey Wendy, are you okay?"
Wendy peered over at Bebe and nodded with a tight smile.
"You sure? You seem kinda..."
"No talking in class, Bebe!"
Bebe hushed up at the teacher's command and Wendy sagged back in her chair, feeling more eyes crawling against her back.
After a monotonous forty minutes, the bell rang for lunch and Wendy scampered out of class as fast as she could, not wanting to speak to or deal with any of her friends while her emotions were in such a chaotic state.
She started making her way to the student council room where she knew she could have a little privacy, but she didn't make it in time as Clyde and Bebe caught up with her. Bebe seized her arm.
"Wends, are you okay? Why are you running from us?" the curly-haired blonde asked with concern.
"Yeah Wendy, what's up? You've been acting weird all day."
Wendy's heart continued to bounce in her chest. "I-I'm okay, I swear. I just have a lot of things on my mind."
"Like what? You know we're always here to help you if you need it. Clyde offered kindly.
"It's just... student council stuff. We're discussing new laws to pass in school so it's getting a little stressful because we keep disagreeing and stuff but it'll be fine, honest." she lied.
The couple seemed convinced by her words and smiled.
"It's just like you to get flustered over something you care about." Bebe grinned, knowing how thoughtful her best friend could be.
"Yeah." Wendy forced a smile in return. "We were thinking of focusing our efforts on bullying, as cases in the school are on the rise."
"Really? That's a surprise. I thought our school was pretty friendly." Clyde inputted.
His words annoyed Wendy, finding his audacity appalling. "Well our research shows there are a few kids that are bullied a lot in school. Take Pip Pirrup for example." she replied firmly.
The couple snorted in unison.
"Pip? Who gives a shit about him?"
"Well for a matter of fact, I do."
Bebe and Clyde gaped at her in stunned silence. Wendy could feel her heart racing in her chest.
"What?"
"I care about Pip. I care about all of the students here."
"Yeah, but... Pip?"
"He's a fuckin' dweeb."
