Pip skimmed his pencil along the blank piece of paper disinterestedly, not really concentrating on what he was drawing. He let out a sigh.

"Ta da!"

He raised his head to see Kenny proudly holding up his own piece of paper which was covered in doodles. The largest doodle was in the middle of the page and depicted a sketch of both him and Pip wearing each other's typical attire. Seeing Kenny wearing his suit caused Pip to let out a little giggle, and this in turn made Kenny smile like an idiot.

"What d'ya think?"

"You look smashing." Pip complimented with a smile. "The suit really suits you, if you pardon the odd expression."

"Thanks very much!" Kenny grinned. "You look great in a hoodie. I don't think I've ever seen you wear casual clothes before."

"I've always just worn suits. I adapted the trousers... er, pants, into shorts when I moved to America, but that was a mistake on my part. I didn't realize Colorado was so cold when I moved here, which is why I wear long socks to compensate." he trailed off in thought, remembering that his appearance and outfit were a huge reason why he was targeted at school. "But in all honestly, that's such a good drawing. It's like, really really good."

"Thanks." Kenny smiled back, looking at his finished piece. "To be honest I don't draw much at all really. I only do it in art class at school or I'll draw at home with Karen if she wants a sketch buddy."

"A sketch buddy?"

"Yeah! Someone to sit and sketch with. You're basically my sketch buddy right now, even though you haven't drawn anything yet."

Pip peered down at his paper.

"Don't know what to draw?"

"No."

"Draw me." Kenny stuck his tongue out. "Like one of your French girls."

"I'm not French." Pip replied somewhat defensively, not understanding the joke.

Kenny thought it wise to change the subject. "Why don't you draw an animal? Your favourite animal?"

Pip's shoulders fell. "I don't really have a favourite. I've never really spent much time with animals apart from that time I was chased by a stray dog." he pondered aloud, "I guess I kind of like cats though. They're cute."

Kenny pointed to his paper. "Draw a cat then!"

"I'm okay thanks." Pip lowered his pencil. "I don't really feel like drawing..."

"Oh, no problem then." Kenny slid his paper onto the bedside table. "What do you wanna do instead?"

"I don't know. What do you normally do inside a hospital?"

"Get better?"

Pip smiled and nudged his friend. "I'm being serious. I don't think I can do anything, really. I wouldn't know what to do anyway. I've never done anything like this before."

Kenny frowned. "Being in a hospital?"

"No, I've done that a few times before. It's just the activity side of things. At home I just did the housework, at the orphanage I just sat around, at my foster parents' house I just did what they told me to do and in the alley I did nothing. I'm kind of boring. ...S-Sorry, I think I'm waffling!"

"No no, it's okay. I like hearin' ya talk about stuff. You have a nice accent."

"Yeah right." Pip brushed his compliment aside with a small smile. "Americans always say that about British accents in general. I know my voice isn't great."
