The sound of a repetitive banging noise against metal attracted the attention of Kenny who was walking by. Thinking the sound was coming from two people doing dirty behind the gym and wanting to take a closer look, he diverted himself off the school path and wandered across the field towards the continuous thuds.
The nonchalant blonde peered around the corner expecting to see something a little arousing, but instead was greeted by Cartman stamping on a little figure curled up on the floor, holding his head in his arms to protect himself.
"Hey Cartman!"
Cartman paused his kicks for a moment and greeted Kenny with a smile. "Hey Kinny. I'll be done in a moment."
Kenny watched aloofly as Cartman picked up the limp form and threw it into the side of the building. The unconscious boy fell to the ground and Cartman strolled over to his friend.
"You still coming over to mine later?"
"Yeah."
"Cool."
"Let's get outta here."
The two boys walked away, not even acknowledging their injured classmate wheezing on the floor.
'I didn't do anything back then to help him, but I can now!'
He was on a mission.
Kenny slid over a small wall, knocking off the crisp layer of snow. He ran as fast as he could all the way to Hell's Pass hospital, ignoring the strange looks from people he passed on the street as he darted past them.
After about fifteen minutes of running across town, Kenny exploded into the hospital and navigated himself through the maze of corridors until he reached Pip's ward. Panting loudly, Kenny unceremoniously burst into the room, but found it empty.
"Shit." he cursed, frantically looking around for any sign of his friend. He backtracked into the corridor and started asking staff whether they'd seen any signs of the British teenager. All of them said no, which got Kenny thinking about where Pip would go to hide if he wanted alone time.
With a new place in mind to think about, Kenny took the elevator up to the top floor. When he arrived, he pushed open a window and stepped onto the roof.
As expected, his friend was there.
Pip was sitting on the corner of the hospital building with his legs dangling over the edge of the roof. He had a blanket wrapped around his shoulders like a cape which he'd pulled around himself like a cocoon as he watched the pure flakes of snow flutter around him. His sad eyes were locked on the town below.
Kenny approached him from behind. Pip heard him, and knew who it was.
"Do you... think this was a good idea?"
Kenny blinked. "Was what a good idea?" he forced out, trying not to sound too exhausted.
"Our friendship."
Kenny dropped beside Pip on his knees and leant forward on all fours, popping his head over Pip's shoulder. "Undoubtedly."
Pip sighed, seeming unconvinced. He held his arms around himself and tried desperately hard not to think about what Stan, Kyle, and Cartman had said to him.
Which didn't work.
"Am I a whore?"
Kenny frowned, knowing just who had called him that. "No. You're an amazing person." he swivelled himself around so he was in the same position as Pip with his legs over the side. "And I for one, am glad to have met you."
