Part 51- Neil-The Writer

Mini's mood was uplifted throughout the day. The hectic schedule at work couldn't wear her out. Her cheerful smile made everybody's day whom she crossed her paths with. She was happy, content, and full of energy. She was in an ecstasy of love.

She happily completed all her tasks at work and left for home. Arya had already returned from school and was waiting for Mini. The doorbell rang. Knowing it was her sister at the door, Arya quickly ran to open it.

Mini: Hey! How's my little girl?

She took her in her arms and dropped her hand bag on the centre table of the living room.

Arya: I'm good.. but you took a long time to return.

Mini: Sorry chhutanki! I got a little busy with work. But I'm back home now.. Did you have lunch?

Arya: I was waiting for you.

Mini pulled her cheeks. They both had lunch together.

Arya: Don't we have any plans for the evening?

Mini: What for?

Arya: Offo! Tum kitni bhulakkad ho!! Aaj Neil ka birthday hai naa.

Mini: Erm.. ha.. haan.. woh, we have but you're not going anywhere.

Arya: Why? Why won't I go? This is not fair, Veer Balika! I reminded you..

Mini: No Arya. I remembered but the thing is.. (she took a deep breath) Okay, Arya mujhe hospital jana hai and kids are not allowed there. So you're not going.

Arya: Hospital? Ab wahan kyun jana hai?

Mini: Because Neil's friends have planned something for him.

Arya: Hospital mein?

Mini: Haan Dadi Amma! Abhi tum jao, rest kar lo. Shaam ko jab main hospital jaungi tum maasi ke paas chali jana. Theek hai?

Arya looked annoyed and turned her face to the opposite side with her arms crossed against her chest.

Mini: Arya.. okay, let's do one thing.. once we both will be back from the hospital, we all will celebrate together.. is that okay?

Arya turned to Mini once again with full attitude and confidence on her face and in eyes.

Arya: Promise?

Mini: Yes! I promise!!

Mini took her little hands in hers and gently placed a kiss on them. Arya finally agreed and they both went to their respective rooms.

In the evening, Mini, standing in front of her wardrobe, was having a hard time deciding what to wear when Preet barged into the room, almost startling her.

Mini: What the hell!! What's wrong with you??

Preet: What's wrong with me?! You're the one who's been keeping things from me, and something is wrong with me? Wow!!

Mini: W.. wait! What are you talking about?

Preet looked at her for a few seconds and then took a pillow lying on the bed. She hit her head with it. Mini started running in the room followed by Preet.

Mini: Ouch! Kya kar rahi hai yaar?.. Preet stop!

Preet: I won't!

Their banter continued for a few more minutes and they slumped down on the bed, laughing. After catching her breath, Mini asked:

"What were you saying?"

Preet: Tujhe rone ke liye mera kandha chahiye hota hai par itni badi news abhi tak nahi batayi gayi tujhse!
