Part 52 - Is Neil still embracing his past?

Colleague: Wow! That was incredible, Dr. Oberoi!! Waise, kiske liye likha hai?

He just looked down feeling a little shy. Though, Mini kept on adoring his smile and those words still ringing in her ears. A smile appeared on her face as well. He looked at her with heart eyes. They looked into each other's eyes for a short period before everybody's voice broke their trance and brought them back.

Mini: Umm.. let's cut the cake.. Neil?

Neil cut the cake and the celebrations continued. They all chit-chatted for some time. Mini excused herself to use the restroom. As she was crossing the corridor to reach the washroom, she met Ritwik who was coming from the opposite direction.

Ritwik: Hey! How are you?

She tried to smile but failed to pass a fake one.

Mini: I'm good.

Ritwik: Here for Neil?

Mini: Yeah. He's in the common room. I.. I need to use the washroom. If you could excuse me...

Ritwik: Sure... See you in the room..

Mini: Hmm?

Ritwik: Haan.. I believe you'll return from the washroom, won't you?

She just glared at him in response and walked off. He went inside the room.

When Mini returned to the common room, she saw some new faces. Neil introduced her to them and told her that they got free a little late from their duties. During this small get-together, Mini was continuously receiving Arya's call which she couldn't attend.

Mini: Neil, don't you think we should go now? Arya's been calling..

Neil: Yes, definitely! Thank you guys for the lovely evening. I guess we should have this quite often.

Mini: Indeed! It was lovely meeting you all. Looking forward to meet again..

Ritwik: Neil, itni kya jaldi hai? Chalein jana. It's been an hour only. Aur waise bhi, we all are meeting Mini for the first time.

Mini narrowed her eyes while anger was clearly showing in those orbs. Whereas, Neil though, was confused but his voice was a little harsh.

Neil: What do you mean?

Ritwik: Nahi... Just saying..

Colleague: Waise, we've heard you sing, Mini? Is that true?

Mini: Umm.. yeah.. I teach music.

Ritwik: Oh great! Toh kuch suna do.

Colleague: Yes, please.

Mini: Actually, we are expecting some guests tonight. So, we should get going..

Ritwik: Come on! Just one song.

She sighed and rolled her eyes and then turned her gaze at Neil who just smiled and gestured to her to sing through his eyes. She smiled back at him.

As she began singing, Neil too joined her when she signalled him to. They were just being themselves while singing. They kept on adoring each other and forgot about the people surrounding them in that small room.
