Aiden lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the moment over and over again.
Two nights ago.
The night he had told Ariel the truth—that he was madly in love with Karlie.
Since then, he hadn't heard from her.
And today...
Today, he was going to see her at the wedding rehearsals.
And he wasn't ready.
He didn't know what to say to her.
He didn't want to hurt Ariel, but she had asked. And Aiden never wanted to lie to her.
This was their reality.
Both of them would be in a loveless marriage.
The agony of that truth made his heart ache.
Sighing, he sat up, forcing himself out of bed.
He headed downstairs, making his way through the halls of the house.
It had been so long since he had seen Andy. Ever since he started courting Amber, he was never home.
Aiden didn't mind.
At least Karlie had Amber to help her through the disaster Anthony had put her in.
A scandal like this could destroy a family.
And Karlie? She was right in the middle of it.
Aiden clenched his jaw, lost in thought.
One of two things would happen now.
Either Karlie would be reserved for marriage next season...
Or if someone was willing to marry her this season, she might have to start courting again.
His stomach twisted at the thought.
He hadn't wanted to cause harm—but Anthony was a snake.
He refused to let Karlie marry such a man.
With his thoughts still racing, he stepped into the kitchen.
