Karlie sat cross-legged on the floor of Carter's room, her dress carefully tucked beneath her as she watched him concentrate on their painting. His tiny fingers held a brush, carefully adding strokes of color to the paper. She smiled as she added her own touches, blending their artwork together.

Anthony stood nearby, leaning against the doorframe, watching them with quiet admiration. Seeing Karlie with Carter, hearing their laughter, it stirred something deep inside him—something he thought he had lost. Even if she never forgave him, even if she never became his wife, having her meet Carter tonight gave him a sense of peace.

As the evening stretched on, Anthony knew it was time to take Karlie home. "Will you come visit again?" Carter asked, his wide eyes full of hope.

Karlie reached out, tucking a loose curl behind his ear. "I will try my best, dear."

Carter grinned. "Have you ever seen a farm with lots of animals before?"

Karlie shook her head. "No, I haven't."

"Well, one day before you go back home, I'll let Papa bring you to visit me, and I'll give you a tour of our farm."

Anthony observed the exchange closely. Was she considering giving him another chance? He wanted to ask, but he held back. He didn't want to push.

"Ready?" he finally asked.

Karlie hugged Carter once more, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. The little boy giggled, beaming up at her.

She stood, smoothing her dress. "Since I'm here, tell me more about this house."

Anthony chuckled. "There's too much to tell in one night."

"Okay, next time then?" she asked, tilting her head.

Anthony met her gaze, a small smile forming. "Certainly."
