"Karlie arrived home, and while being in California had been amazing, she had missed home.
As the car pulled up to the estate, Karlie stepped out, stretching her limbs after the long ride. She turned to her mother with a small frown.
"Mama, why did you send an automobile and not the carriage? You know I prefer the carriage," she said, smoothing the wrinkles from her dress.
Her mother sighed, shaking her head with a small smile. "Sweetheart, we have to learn to go with the times. The world is changing, and so must we."
Karlie pursed her lips but said nothing. It wasn't that she was against progress—she simply found comfort in tradition. The steady rhythm of horse hooves, the quiet of the open road... but she supposed her mother was right. Change was inevitable.
"Welcome home, sweetheart," her mother said, embracing her.
"Thank you, Mama."
"We've already secured a few venues for you to choose from for your wedding."
Karlie sighed. "Okay, Mama. I'm sure you all did well, but while I was away, I was able to figure it out."
Her mother looked at her, surprised. "Oh? And what do you have planned?"
Karlie turned to the driver. "Please unload the car." Then, without answering her mother just yet, she walked into the house, where her siblings greeted her eagerly. They all gathered in the living room, waiting to hear what she had to say.

Karlie took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "So, Mother, I've been thinking—I want a destination wedding. I want to get married overlooking the ocean. The colors I've chosen are mint green and coral."
Her mother's expression shifted slightly. "A destination wedding?" she repeated. "Karlie, you know your father and I were married in a church. Everyone in our family was. This would be the first time someone has done something like this."
